been to celtic park quite a lot, for social occasions such as birthday/anniversary parties, wedding receptions, etc as well for the football, i would like to see other stadiums function suites, to see how they compare, does anyone have any photo's?

I can understand clubs having function rooms for functions, business meetings and general parties.

But weddings? I gotta say, even if we won a quadruple one season, I still wouldn't want to get married at Ashburton Grove.

In order of how many times I've been...

Spurs - White Hart Lane (had a season ticket for the past 5 or so seasons)
Enfield - Southbury Road (my old local non-league team, RIP :()
New Wembley (two Carling Cup finals, one FA Cup semi-final and a few friendlies)
Chelsea - Stamford Bridge (vs. PSG)
Leyton Orient - Brisbane Road (Spurs friendly)
Stevenage Borough - Broadhall Way (Spurs friendly)
Yeovil Town - Huish Park (random game whilst on holiday)
Shrewsbury Town - Greenhous Meadow (random game whilst on holiday)
Bethnel Green United - Mile End Stadium (went for Non-league Day this year)

Best: White Hart Lane, obviously. :)
Worst: Stamford Bridge. No atmosphere, ran out of burgers before the match. :(

im not talking the actual wedding, im talking wedding reception.

does it really matter if its in a football stadium or a hotel? if i blindfolded you and took you into a hotel's function suite and then took you to celtic park's i doubt you could tell which one is which.

the kerrydale suite at celtic park aint small either, i reckon 500 people easy, with a decent sized dancefloor and stage, a huge long bar spanning the width of the room to service everyones needs. there's plenty of toilets, and car parking facilities, making it perfect for any wedding reception, in fact its the complete package, i dont think anywhere else in glasgow offers all these things in one. there's the thistle hotel but thats about 12 grand to rent it for a wedding reception, that doesnt include food or drink just the empty hall with tables and chairs, etc. (im assuming celtic park is a lot cheaper), you need to pay for your parking also at the thistle and its a lot smaller car park than celtic park's meaning guests at the thistle would need to pay city centre rates if they dont fit into its own car park.

theres some more info on it. it says it can hold 450-500 for lunch/dinner dance and 1100 for a reception (business type thing im assuming) or pre-match for the posh people.

tbh its probably one of glasgow's best and cheaper venues, the only one i can think of which would beat it is mar hall but im assuming it would cost at least £60K to have a wedding there.

the normandy hotel is quite popular too but i think celtic park beats it in every aspect.

I meant a reception as you stated above.

You're probably right, in the sense that football grounds would be more upto date and flexible than an old hotel. They'd probably have better parking facilities too. I don't know, having a reception at a club ground would still give cause for hesitation. Also I've yet to stray from an area where it's very easy to get something else other than a football ground or anything else better. I gave the example of my own club in London, I've no doubt unlike Glasgow (as you're inferring) there are possibly hundreds of other options.

And yes even if blind folded I'd be miffed to find out my reception was at one. Oddly enough I think most other halves would be the same given a choice.

well i know plenty of people who have had parties there, ive been to at least 5. most of them not even Celtic fans and dont have a clue about football. the last wedding reception i was there for, the bride had invited her cousins from Norway, I got talking to them outside as my cousin went out for a cigarette (i dont smoke, just keeping him company). they said it was really nice to have a wedding there, they never thought its facilities would be so good. when i told them it was a 60,000 seater stadium, they were shocked too (their used to a lot smaller in Norway).

Shocking bad would have been oxfords old manor ground.

Used to enjoy stokes victoria ground, cracking closed in atmosphere.

Worst away days, toss up between being bricked down at millwall on the coach and at the ground over the fence, or covs highfield road on a freezing boxing day, being served cold coffee and microwaved in a bag hotdogs that were stone cold on opening... that only arrived at half time when they opened something that looked like a garden shed.

I used to be able to say i`d been to every senior ground in Scotland up until the late 90`s.

Since then several teams have moved grounds such as Airdrie, Livingston, Falkirk, St Mirren, Inverness Caley, Clyde, Hamilton.

I have no real desire to re-attempt visiting them all.

In England i have been to Wembley several times, Annfield, Old Trafford, CoM Stadium, Goodieson, Elland Road (what a night that was), Ewood Park, Selhurst Park!, Craven Cottage and last but not least, Highbury and The emirates at least 4 times a year.
