Football grounds you've visited

That it was, also loved the atmosphere you'd get down there :)

Really bounced around and was fantastic.

Have you been to the Walkers Stadium? I dislike it.

I've been a few times, it's not too far away.

I dislike it, it might look quite striking but it lacks atmosphere and just seems a little bare.

It's very modern and has fantastic featues but it's still not quite Filbert Street, I liked that ground a lot :(

Shocking bad would have been oxfords old manor ground.

Heresy!

Our new ground (the Ka$$am Stadium) is modern, out of town and easy to park at, but isn't a patch on the Manor yet - although the atmosphere IS getting better!

Since we've just come back up from non-league, I could tell you a few stories about the grounds we went to when we were down there that make the Manor look like Wembley :0)

You can't talk about bad grounds until you've been to the likes of Stafford, St Albans, Mansfield, Hayes and Yeading etc.The worst of the (ex)'bigger' teams is Kenilworth Road (Luton). What a dump that is!

To be fair, as you are an Oxford fan, it's not surprising that you're not partial to Kenilworth Road. :p But to be honest, your viewpoint is entirely understandable. It's the approach to the ground I find rather unpleasant, as opposed to the stadium itself.

Old Trafford
Maine Road :(
Villa Park
Wembley (old)
Highfield Road
Ewood Park

Nou Camp
Bernabua
Stade Louis II
Stadio della Alpi
San Siro
Olympic stadium (munich)

Best stadium had to be Nou camp have been twice would like to go again after they upgrade it.

If anyone can beat this as the worst ground visited, you have my sincere sympathy.

I don't get to live games that often, can't afford it, I've still been to a few random stadiums:
Highbury
The Emirates
Underhill (not to see Barnet - it was an Arsenal pre-season game)
Wembley (new, never got to the Old one)
Ullevaal Stadion, Oslo (randomly happened to be on holiday there whilst Liverpool were playing a pre-season game :D )
Ashton Gate
The Memorial Stadium
The County Ground
The New Lawn (Forest Green Rovers - my local team, only one I get to regularly when I have the chance)

The Emirates - great stadium, padded seats(!), great views, great PA system, great fish and chips, great football, great pitch, easy to get in and out of. Bit lacking in atmosphere at times and we get outsung by the likes of Stoke and Blackpool. Club level is weird, doesn't feel like you are in a stadium at all.
Wembley - poor man's Emirates, overpriced drinks
St Mary's (Southampton) - Cracking little stadium, basically it is the Emirates scaled down, great atmosphere, no obscured views or anything like that. Tickets are overpriced though.
Ray Mac (Salisbury) - Does the job, maybe a bit exposed to wind though (stands only on 2 sides) so you see quite a few wayward crosses. Probably classes as the weirdest.
Victoria Park (Salisbury) - pretty shocking that this was used for play only a couple of divisions below Conference level. Literally no better than many school pitches. Worst I've been to.
MCG - awe inspiring. Probably the best although the type of football played there maybe isn't what you'd expect ;)
SCG - remarkably laid back and casual, also very open (groups of people kicking footies around inside it)

Been to,
Stockport County - Edgely park
Ipswich Town - Portman road
Blackpool - Bloomfield road
Aston Villa - Villa park
Barcelona - Nou Camp
Manchester United - Old trafford
And Wembley

My favourite was probably Old trafford, I loved wembley but everything was so expensive.

Did people really like Old Wembley? I went a few times but was younger, only really remember the Brentford game, vaguely(was probably 12-14, bad parents letting me go with a group of friends my age? :p nah, very friendly affair, loads of people we knew all going the same route). We were up in a corner, up high and the other end of the pitch seemed further away than any game I've ever seen anywhere else. Noucamp, I was further away in the middle and about 4 miles up but I could see what was going on everywhere due to the birdseye view nature, but the top tier there sucks badly aswell.

AFter going to the Millenium stadium Wembley just seemed a joke, first game I was behind one goal, at the front of the higher tier and the view was just utterly outstanding, every part of the pitch seemed so much closer than Wembley and it felt so much more closed in, better atmosphere, just fantastic stadium really, except the distance, I'm about 20 mins from Wembley and it took about 6 hours to get back from Millenium stadium in bad traffic(arsenal and Chelsea fans all going the same way, do'h).

Is the new Wembley as bad in that sense, its still not got any tier's, I think after a certain capacity you have to have an overhanging tier above so the guys at the top/back aren't as far back.

I was at the new Wembley in May at the playoff finals, my first time there. I'd been warned about the food and drink prices, so took my own (take cartons, not cans or bottles, and put everything in a clear plastic bag so the stewards can see what it is). That saved a fortune.

I was on the ground level tier, behind the goal about four rows back and the view was fine. Looking at the top tiers, I'm not sure I would have been as happy up there - it looked very steep.

The hole in the roof seems very small, the same size as the pitch, no wonder they have trouble with lack of light etc on the grass. The most pleasant surprise was the stewards (in general), they let us stand up all game behind the goal which made for a much better atmosphere.

So I enjoyed my Wembley trip as did the rest of the Oxford fans (we took 33,000!!!) , although the fact that we won may have had something to do with it! :) I did go to the old Wembley a couple of times, and (sentiment aside) it really was showing it's age by the end.

I prefer the view from the third (level 5) tier to the first tier. It's a lot less steep up there than some of the older grounds I've been to (including White Hart Lane).

To be honest, I get vertigo climbing a ladder - so I'm sure it's just me! :(

Working approximately South to North in UK:

Porstmouth - a number of matches when I was living down there
Fulham - a few league games against Spurs
Chelsea - a few Spurs games
Arsenal (Highbury) - numerous games
Arsenal (Emirates) - just one, so far
Spurs - countless
Wembley (old stadium) - three Spurs FA Cup finals, one Spurs League Cup Final, a couple of Amateur Cup finals back in the 1950s, numerous England internationals, including a 9-3 win against Scotland, and a 4-2 win against West Germany
Barnet - about four times, the first being when they were still in the old Athenian League in the FA Cup against a Preston team which included a very young Howard Kendell.
Watford - most memorable was seeing them put Liverpool (Ron Yeates and co) out of the FA Cup
Birmingham - one cup game against Spurs
Aston Villa - one cup game against Spurs, and one which I watched from the directors' box
West Brom - one game against Spurs
Leicester - just once, against Spurs
Nottingham Forest - a few, against Spurs
Notts County - twice, my first two games (Tommy Lawton played in the second)
Stoke City (Victoria Ground) - numerous
Stoke City (Britannia Stadium) - about three times
Port Vale - a couple, including Spurs' defeat in FA Cup
Crewe Alex - just one, I think
Sheffield United - just once, against Spurs
Sheffield Wednesday - just once, Forest v Spurs FACup semi (1967)
Leeds - just once
Bradford Park Avenue - fourth div game against Workington Town
Bradford City - three or four games
Manchester United - three times, in all cases, the team I was supporting (Spurs twice, and Barnet once) got beaten 4 - 1. One of those was European Cup Winners Cup.
Liverpool - just once - they scored seven against Spurs (first time I saw Ardeles)
Sunderland (Roker Park) - just once

Hamden Park - a few Scotland internationals, a couple of Rangers v Celtic Cup Finals, and a Queens Park league match
Ibrox Park - many times
Celtic Park - many times - including all of the home games when Celtic won the European Cup
Partick Thistle - once
Hearts - once
Hibs - once

UK non-league grounds

Enfield - once
Alsager Town - numerous
Newcastle Town - a couple
Congleton Town - once
Maine Road - twice (that's Maine Road FC, and not the old Man City ground)
Ashton Athletic - twice

Abroad

Ajax - their old stadium (1950s)
Some bigger stadium in Amsterdam to see friendly between Ajax and Barcelona
Nou Camp - once
Stade de France in Paris- once

I don't think I've missed any.

Best of all has to be Nou Camp. Fantastic stadium. Fantastic atmosphere.
The strangest ever has to be Hamden Park, when I saw Queens Park in a league game. Capacity in those days was around 120,000, and the gate was about 100. I parked my car right outside the only turnstile which was in operation that evening.
