Noooo. Select the nations you think you might want to manage in (I tend to load England, Germany and Spain - sometimes Italy) then select players with a continental reputation from there on. You should probably aim to have between 30,000 and 50,000 players to keep the game at a decent pace. I tend to load around 35,000-40,000.

I always go 100k plus with all nations, always paranoid with too small a database game will be gimped in he future with rubbishy and limited regen :p

I'm having a torrid second season as Newcastle, 8th after about 13 games but got no consistency. Keep drawing and can badly score then my defence has become shaky for no reason. Champions league drew 3 and lost 1 so probably going out of that too :(

I lost Perez for 37mill to Barca and shifted on the **** so only real change is Chambers in (who has been brilliant) and got De Jong and Berahino to replace Rivière and Perez but both have been **** getting 3 goals between them in all competitions. Codes stopped scoring as wel so if mitrovic misfires I'm done though luckily he's been great so far.

Can't see how to turn it around :(

I also tend to load over 100k players with some nations on 'view only' as I don't expect to want to manage there. Loading times are pretty quick anyway.

As for tips for a first-timer...I have no idea where to start with that :p

Where is the cheapest place for this

I got it for £22.50 from Cdkeys using CDKEYSBLACK10 code for 10% off. If that is no longer available, 'liking' them on facebook gives you a 5% discount code.

Or, if you want to just take a shot, try 'CDKEYSCYBER10' for Cyber monday. Worth a try :)

I would also load up the Netherlands. I made the mistake of not loading Italy and the Netherlands in. This meant I couldn't find any Italian/Dutch coaches of whom a lot are 4.5/5* quality. I loaded these two countries in at the end of the first season and have now really improved both my coaching quality but also the workload.

Just finished my first season on FM16 on a savegame that was originally just a quick test game on the beta build. Quite simply it went awfully. Ended up 5th and out of the Champions League. Faced with the Europa League a few players wanted out. Most of whom I wanted to offload anyway to either save on their wages (Rooney) or finance an upgrade (Valencia) etc. Rooney went to Chelsea and is on £155k wages down from £235k at Utd. Have bought Pogba. I think I went a bit crazy with the recruitment over the summer so whilst I want to continue the game save I also want to start again and load in Italy and the Netherlands.

Will add pictures if people want a laugh! :(:o:mad:

Tips for a new player, it's pretty daunting these days getting into it fresh :p

Pre season - make sure you get enough friendlies and tactical/fitness training so your team have match sharpness and fitness or you will struggle when the season starts.
Tactics - really pay attention to them. It isn't as simple as pick 11 players and the best 11 win, get your tactics wrong and even "poor" teams will comfortably beat you.

Get your tactics right and you will do ok, I would expect your first few saves to go **** up whilst you get used to it. If desperate you could get a pre package tactic from fm base to give you a clue and build from there but that may stint your learning a little. Enjoy!

I think we need a database guide. It can be very confusing. My first save I was using 105,000 players with only two nations selected. But this current save is 6 nations and 70,000 players.

I must admit, I can't say I notice much in the way of speed difference computing the turns between the two. The reason for more nations and less players was because I was told by SI that affiliate clubs require the different nations loaded. I was unable to get any feeder clubs in my first save with England and Scotland running. This time round I've England, Scotland, some European and South American nations loaded. It's important for me to have access to feeder clubs because I am starting at the bottom and trying to work my way up.

5 games into premier league season, lost 4 (including a 4-1 loss to Stoke) and 1 win.. Relegation zone ftw :(

5-1 loss to Swansea.. This isn't going well. Lucky to make it to christmas at this rate..

EDIT: Wow, 20th September, just had crisis talks with the board. Been given a month to turn it around..

Noob :p

By the way if people are fed up with the lack of variety with the regens there is a fabulous hair mod out on sortitoutsi that completely changes the look. It's a must have.

Has anyone seen any benefit to intensive language training? I've sent several chaps off to learn Engrish. Some learn quicker than others and some courses are more expensive than others.

I did find Hakan Calhanoglu got a lot better once he had completed it - could have just been used to the team more than anything, but ever since he's been pretty good. Same with Gabriel Barbosa.

My season at United is going very well. Still yet to concede in the league after 18 games, scoring 35. Only conceded 2 goals over 29 games (both in groups vs Olympiakos oddly). Total of 4 including pre-season. Not a bad effort!
