So,

What I'm after is a ceiling light with as small a drop from the ceiling as possible. It cannot be wider than 20cm on the ceiling.

I cannot do spotlights - due to the fact that the ceiling is actually the external roof, and the way it's built would mean having the remove plasterboard.

I was thinking of maybe a strip of say 4-5 spotlights recessed into a sort of box? Anyone seen anything like this, or know where I can get it from?

What's created the issue? The ceiling in the kitchen is sloped, due to it being in the eaves of the roof. There is only a small section of flat roof, and the new wall unit's doors open out into this...so need this area. The lights get in the way of the wall unit doors opening.

Thanks,
R

I dont understand why you cannot fit spotlights. They would require no more removal of anything than any other fitting, just a hole saw where they need to go. Its the running of power which would require butchering the ceiling.

That's the issue...running the power to each of the spotlights. The noggins(?) in between the beams are in the way.

Track lighting might be an option...anyone know a track lighting system where the power for the track is in the middle of the track - or can most do that?

Thanks

Did the same with my kitchen, the bathroom is above it with a sealed tiled floor, so no access from above.

Get the holes done for the spotlights, then cut small portions of the ceiling out over the noggins. Notch the noggins to get the cable past them, and replace the small ceiling section, then a small amount of filler to make good.

Spotlights are the proper job and its very easy to get past the noggin issue.
