For everyone who likes it BIG!

Have you got the date wrong as it look 30th January to me ? Should be 29th ?

please remember - the results, whilst they look a little dissapointing, this cooler really shines when it comes to noise

there really isnt any cooler on the market as quiet as this. the noctua comes close but doesnt look as good and also is far louder.

but the results would not be far off considering the volts.

make no mistake, this is a very good and very capable cooler.

put some higher rpm fans on this cooler and it would really shine but would defeat the reason it is made

in my honest opinion. keeping a volted bloomfield at those temps at that noise level would be difficult to achieve for many other coolers out of the box.

i am personally quite impressed.

remember, this is using the stock TIM as well.
you would yeild better results with a tube of mx3 without a doubt

hope my analysis helps a little :)

didnt set it up in the bios mate :)

in fact, i actually did the tests in the future

its was fantastic ;)
considering the cooler looks like a flux capacitor, it wouldnt surprise me

good to hear from you to again mate :)

its good, dont get me wrong, your cherry picked chip helps on that a lot.

like i say, your setup is rather orientated towards performance where as the bequiet benefits those in pursuit of silence.

Surely at 1700 RPM, it is only quieter when PWM kicks in and lowers the fan speed. To truly shine in terms of performance the fans would have to work at full speed. What's disappointing is not necessarily the fact that it doesn't beat the Noctua because as you say, the Be quiet can indeed live up to its name, but more the fact that the Thermalright Silver Arrow is on par with the Noctua while also being quieter.

So with the SA, you get the performance of the NH-D14 and quiet operation plus PWM functionality. Best of all is that it doesn't stand as high so will fit inside most cases. It really would be great to see the SA being sold here because it would sell like hot cakes. Those Thermalright 140mm fans are nothing short of brilliant and will be much better than those Be quiet 120mm fans.

nope

its on its pwm splitter configured as it is in the box

its quiet all the time

didnt even notice much of an increase when it was under load.

much quieter than the noctua

this performs similarly to a venom but without the noisy fan

havent got time i am afraid.

but as i said. the heatsink performed well with ultra quiet fans on there.

so its obviously going to be a marked improvement with higher rpm fans on there.

the stock fans are spinning at around 1650rpm according to the bios

Np rjk would you say its a decent cooler if it had the right fans though? Also what about the other comments about its weight?

Just fitted my Pro.

Quick temps for you :

Fans on auto ( whatever the mobo sets them at )

i5 2500k @ 4.5ghz / 1.30 volts

Prime run for ~ 15mins

Real temp readings ranged between 51 - 56 degrees across the cores.

MX3 Tim used

Relatively easy to fit , but you must have access to the back of the mobo ( as with all coolers that require a backpate ).

Very sturdy 3 - 4mm thick backplate gives it a solid feel when mounted , still wouldn't transport it fitted though

Silent :)

Large, but not as heavy as i was expecting tbh. Not noticably heavier then the Noctua it replaced.

Ram slots 1 and 2 covered by cooler fins , Slot 3 and 4 covered by fan - So standard height ram only.

All in all, very pleased :)
