For people that surf the net in the dark (eye strain)

I seriously recommend a programme called f.lux, http://www.stereopsis.com/flux/

I can't express how effective this little app is, I presume many on here like me surf the net in quite a low lit room, sometimes for hours at a time, I'm someone that gets headaches quite a lot, usually due to eye strain/tension, I've been testing this programme on and off now for a good couple of years and using this app cuts down my headaches by at least 80%.

Basically it changes the colour temperature of your screen/s to a warm hue that is a lot easier on the eyes, now many people may think that they don't require an app like this as they personally don't feel as if their eyes are being strained, but as an experiment if your in a low lit room and you've been surfing the net for a while try loading up the app and stare at the screen while it slowly changes the temperature, you really feel your eyes relaxing, really feels good, it's like when you don't realise your shoulders are tense until think about them.

You can set the warmth of the display, your location for enabling it to activate automatically at sundown, or you can have it on at all times if you desire, and for those that require a correct colour profile for photo-editing etc there is an easy to access 'disable for an hour' option available by right clicking the task bar icon.

The sleeping part interests me, I find myself unable to sleep for hours if I go straight from the PC to bed, maybe if it darkens it as the night goes on I'd find it easier?
 
I don't understand why a dark room would affect eye strain. :confused:

Your pupils will dilate to the exposure they need to see the brightest thing in the room, your monitor. The only issue would be if you spent your entire time looking from dark to light?
 
Although it may be doing some good if you are experiencing eye strain I would suggest that you get an eye test. Quite frankly I would have thought that it would be more beneficial to have a brighter room than to mess around with monitor colour settings and sit in a dark environment.

I agree but I much prefer low lit ambient lighting, and this app makes it so that you don't have have to mess around with colour settings, it does it all for you at a click of a button.
 
I think it's when I play multiplayer that I prefer to play with the lights on, 'apparently' it makes it easier for the eye with respect to the task.
