For those into fitness, do you avoid 'junk food'?

Was just about to chirp in the on the marg/butter debate but glady saw FF's great response.

Margerine is grey naturally without any colouring additives, which says a lot for whats in it. Full of trans fats and hydrogenated which removes most of its goodness, stay well away and stick with a good organic butter. Personally I use it on my toast and in my pan for my morning scrambled eggs! Yum! And from my pictures and 6% body fat this summer it obviously didn't make me fat ;)

Going back to the original question, 99% of the time yes I 'avoid' junk food. Most of the time I eat healthy but cook things I actually love (butternut squash chicken pasta for example).
However, with that said, my trip to England for Xmas is nearly here, I plan to stuff my face something rotten on mum's home cooked food and Indians :D

:o LOL

Yeah, I pretty much avoid junk food as much as possible although moderation is the key. I see the body as a car. If you put good petrol into it, it'll run good, bad petrol, it'll run bad.

The body...If I eat good foods, I feel good, I lift more. Vice versa with bad foods.

I allow myself to enjoy myself, but I genuinely don't like KFC, McDs etc.. I just really don't find it enjoyable food - so I keep away from it.

This for me as well although I'm getting fatter and fatter due to no exercise.

I used to drink tons of diet drinks but now just drink fizzy water (still can't drink the flat stuff. :( )

Dread to think what i'd be if I ate junk food was well.

A healthy diet with little exercise doesn't work either :(

I don't eat junk food that often, but I don't avoid it either. If I fancy a pizza or fish & chips, or a bruger from the kebab shop, I'll get it.

But then, I exercise at least 4 times a week.

I tend to only eat natural food now, though if I'm with friends and they want to go to a fast food place I'll join them

Eating my own cooked meat, fish, etc is just so much nicer than any processed junk

Ex pro ice hockey player here :)

I still eat well, but have 1 day a week where I can eat anything, usually tend to eat well and avoid junk, but not always.

I think the key is moderation, whether it's junk or real food as the body likes a full variation of various nutrients to function properly.

Above everything though is water, lots of it, second is carbs, obviously they should be eaten minimally, try to eat the natural carbs like brown rice and potatoes when you do. Worst offender is bread, it makes you fat, bloated and sluggish.

i avoid choclate, fizzy drinks white bread on the whole. I do have a subway or BK every other week and some nice good quality sausages or burgers when get the chance would never refuse. Have a bowl of ricepudding or some apple crumble for desert most days as well :) wouldn't call that junk though.

On a side note, I have a mate who eats junk for ALL meals, KFC, Subway etc, and he's skinny, but man does he look ill, and his arteries must be like London sewers outside restaurants ;)

Pretty much the title.

I'm actually to the point where I won't eat anything bad, like processed meats, and of course don't eat fast food (such as KFC and the like).

I'm just wondering if anyone else eats 'normal' but works out regularly and is happy that way, or are like me and are careful and work out (I also take vits and supplements) or maybe even more extreme?

For a reference (briefly) I don't drink fizzy drinks, and basically survive off of water. Don't eat chocolate, cake, crisps and so on. Don't eat McD's, KFC and so on.

I eat tons of fruit, salmon and chicken (but only oven cooked) have a lot of veg and all the other healthy stuff. I also very very rarely miss breakfast (like maybe once every 3 or 4 months...) and of course work out.

Not really a point to the thread, as in I'm not seeking advice, I'm just curious to other peoples views on junk! :p

being into fitness and eating junk food defies the purpose, its like being in the army but against war if you know what i mean?

although there are people who do both they are probably a minority or just plain stupid.

im not talking about cheat meals or cheat days but people who only eat junk food and train.
