Now some of you will remember me whining on about this damn game because I slated it last year calling it the buggiest title I've played since SiN iirc. However about a month ago I decided to wipe me pc and dual boot between Vista and XP, seeing as my previous Witcher install on Vista was an utter unstable nightmare.

So about a month ago I installed it on XP and much to my surprise it ran perfectly with the odd CTD should I alt+tab back to the desktop. However it no longer CTD's every 5mins. Good stuff.

So can I safely say that hotdamn, I haven't been this hooked on a game since er, well since Mass Effect hit the 360. It took me ages to get past Act 1 thanks to the CTD's, but since then I've slowly progressed through the game absorbing the superb storyline, banging anything with boobehs and generally being a bit of an annoyance as dog killing at night is quite fun. Some areas made me feel like I was back in Lotr Online because they looked and felt that good to roam around in.

In short, I love the game to bits despite the fact that as it stands it could do with a lot more npc models (enhanced patch yes I know) and grammatical errors are quite noticeable. So far I'm upto Act 5 or 4, where the city is up in flames and it just gets better and better.

I'm going to be so depressed when this game ends! :(

I just started playing this yesterday, I'm enjoying it so far but I'm only into Act 1 :)

It's not what I was expecting to be honest, I was expecting something more along the lines of Neverwinter Nights and I was pleasantly surprised with The Witcher that it was different.

I also haven't encountered one problem with the game yet and I'm running on Vista x64.

Funnily enough I bought this game yesterday. My rig is only just at the minimum requirements but I got it working well enough once I turned the resolution and effects right down (still looks good enough though). Only got to play for an hour or so but I like it so far.

I couldn't get on with the combat system, stances were good idea for rock, paper, scissors mechanic but the clicking was an awful idea.

I too couldn't get on with the combat or the fact that you can't even jump in the game. Act 1 being completely dull and the village you're in being rather closed off didn't help matters either. Luckily it is only Act 1 that feels rather closed off, the other acts are rather open in terms of where you can go.

If anyone is getting slow down in the FMV bits, kill depth of field and grass - apparently those really do hit frame rates on older gpus. They certainly made my 7900GTX cry, until I got a cheap 8800GTS.

The game is quite different from other RPG's. The devs have taken a rather different stance to the way the game works and I feel they've almost pulled it off. The no holds barred attitude to the game also impresses me a lot, so it feels a lot more adult orientated.

Glad you like it! It deserves as much praise as it can get.

Ive been itching to have my second play through it, but wont till the enhcnced patch.

They're doing a major update that fixes all the translation problems and adds more AI models and animations.

Played the demo, and just found I got bored quickly. I didn't enjoy the fighting, with the stupid idea of clicking just at the right time to get the extra power or whatever.

Got to the swamp in act 2, got put off by very hard plant monsters. Gonna finish nwn2 and expansion pack, and by the time i done that, the enhanced patch will be out for the witcher and ill go through it again.

You probably won't be able to kill them the first time you encounter them. But after a few level ups they are pretty easy to kill, especially if you put some points into the Igni skill (correct name? been a few months since I've played now, but the flame one).

Just run away from the plants for now and you'll be fine.

One of the most enjoyable RPG games i have played, its hard to find decent RPG games that are not turn based (dont enjoy FF type games). Certainly up their with KotOR.

Still have not completedit, on Chapter 4. Games like these deserve time to wander around and complete side quests just to get as mucha s you can out of it.
