I would have thought on a private sale it would be easy to get money off. It seems quite good for the money. I am after a 2.0 Zetec/Esp but this is suprisingly just a small ammount more. Is there a reason why the car is this price?

I know lots of you would say this is not a "Hot" hatch but that is exactly what I am after, not blistering performance but adequate.

Anyone aware of running costs on this car i.e. insurance/tyres/servicing. Anyone been able to insure themselves on one of these at 20/21?

Thanks all.

All of the old focii are getting cheap now as the new model has made them look dated.

Seen a few ST's going for that price private, just get it checked out properly before handing any cash over.

Me personally id be buying this 1 HERE

Same mileage etc, but with the optional leather Recaro seats!! Think these were about a £1200 option and are excellent seats.

EDIT
Just noticed the desciption "Half leather recaro seats". The recaros werent half leather, so theyre just describing the standard wannabe seats!!
Inaccurate descriptions do my nut in!!

PS some very well priced ST170's on autotrader.

I see the one you're after has Xenons, make sure you buy one with these. ST170 was available with standard halogen focus lights which had a light smoke tint and the optional non smoke Xenons which are nice and bright.

Yeah I know it really took me by suprise. I entered 2.0 into my search and was very suprised to see ST170s comming up. I had previously thought them way over budget.

So guys can anyone help me with running costs?

The early examples with no options packs are rather cheap now, mainly because there are quite a few of them available. Just check that it is a proper ST170 though, there are quite a few lookalikes running about (open the bonnet to check).

Comfort and Custom pack cars are the ones to get however. Full leather Recaros, "decent" standard stereo system, xenons, heated screen etc etc.

Well, its insurance group 15, that will price a lot of people out of the market (go run some quotes, its suprisingly expensive to insure). Tyres are about 100 quid per corner for some Continental Sport 2 Contacts, the fronts will last about 15k if you drive like me ;). Servicing wise, its just the same as a bog standard focus, annual services are only about 120 quid.

MPG wise, well if your cruising in 6th on the motorway you'll easily get 40mpg and about 500miles out of a tank. If your making swift progress and using the VVT you'll be looking at about half that. Best to run it on SUL or Optimax to, mines always been a bit funny with 95ron.

Apart from that, its a great car, rather fun over a roads due to the focus suspension setup. Its a bit like a CTR to drive though, unless your bouncing off the limiter you'll wonder where all those 170 ponies are hiding ;).

Its panther black, I had same as this one, with Xenons, so this one has climate control and heated front windscreen too. It is expensive on insurance despite it only being 170BHP. Handling is very good kinda understeers if pushed but on the whole in the twistys is very good. Nothing went wrong with mine in two years 24k miles apart from the idle control valve very minor.

I think it is a stylish car, the multispoke alloys really set it off. I like the looks, I would definitely like the performance (the fact that it is only "warm" is enough heat for me) and could afford bad MPG as my mileage is low 6-7 thousand. Servicing is no problem if it is the same as normal focus. Tyres will be a push but I suppose I just put £40 away each month to pay for them at the end of the year.

But as normal I am burdened with high insurance. I have run a quote with Adrian Flux, who I have heard good things about, apparently they will call me this afternoon. My main problem is my lack of NCB. I have been driving as a named driver since I had a learner license. Are introductory ncb possible in this kind of situation? I have never had a accident or speeding offence, have done pass plus and am starting the IAM course soon. I live in the safest area code aswell as adding both parents as named drivers to the car.

Really wish I would have had insurance in my own name from day 1.

I was looking at getting one, but the £100 a month insurance put me, add extra petrol and tax and it was a lot more a month.
