there were about 1 inches of water flooding around the front passenger foot well! never had this before!

ages ago i heard focus is well known having this problem, something do with pollen filter is not sealed properly onto the front widescreen. i think it was the guy got RS focus here said IIRC.

is it easy to fix? is it DIY jobby?

cheers :)

ps. ford focus 2002 (52), 1.6 zetec 5dr with A/C

Sounds like the pollen filer problem. At the base of the passenger side windscreen there is a plastic panel that covers the pollen filer - this is clipped in on a couple of locations but is sealed to the windscreen with butyl tape - if the tape isn't applied properly or comes loose you get a free passenger footbath when it rains. The butyl tape costs a couple of quid if you want to have a go yourself, I'd reccomend replacing the pollen filter whilst you are at it otherwise yor car will smell mouldy whenever you turn the ac on.

If it's been serviced recently i'd blame the garage - it's common for this to occur just after a service and most of the ford garages just accept the blame, get it sorted and get your carpets dried out.

Snap. Or had your windscreen replace. Fortunately I did not suffer from this crap design when I had my Focus

Had windscreen leak here on brand new Focus, was told about the pollen filter being a common prob, but turned out my windscreen hadn't been sealed in properly, thank god for the motion sensors inside setting the alarm off with the dripping as it was an absolute storm out there, and by the time i got up it would have been like a fish tank, id have opened the door and WOOSSSHHH, had to quickly get my dads car out of the garage and put mine in as it was literally flooding in.

You'll need pollen filter no 1121106 , seal number 1316193 and you may need the scuttle plastic panel itself as they warp part no 1320540 . In worst case scenario you may need a new carpet too.

I got mine done under warranty, its called the scuttle panel which is located under the passenger side windscreen. I had all puthy foam stuff coming out of the edges of it, plus got new pollen filter aswell
