Ford Mondeo : Fuel Pump £1800? O.o

Buy a new Mondeo, a 2001 is about 12 pounds isn't it?

thats part of the reason im quite happy to stick with older cars. i cant afford something new with warrenty, i also wouldnt be able to stomach the depreciation, but with old tech stuff things are so much simpler.

if i got a passat diesel (if i needed a diesel saloon) a 5 year old could look after and maintain those. the only biggie would be a clutch change.

You dropped your TDCi like a bad disease when you got hit with the 1st of what would have been many impending bills!

Erm, no - I upgraded it because I was bored of it. You seem to think that because google shows a lot of posts about problems that it means absolutely every car will explode. But you're failing to appreciate that these are very common cars, and very few people go onto a forum to say "yep, all ok!" - so the number of posts about problems will be high.

I had a good experience, I know plenty of other people who have had Mondeo and Focus TDCIs without any serious issues. In the absence of any real data, it's impossible to call from either angle - I just hate sensationalising and assumptions from any perspective. When I say they're not as problematic as some people think, I'm saying it from the viewpoint that some people have that its a definite outcome when I know for a fact that its not the case. I cant say how common failures are and neither can anyone else

You previously said that you got rid of it because your landlord was going to repaint the car parking spaces and it was too big for them (as if!). Not that a 9-3 is noticeably smaller of course. As for boring, a 2000 year 1.8 Accord is more exciting?

You've got more stories that Jackanory.

Lol, don't let the fact that the thread about parking was several months before changing, and me stating about a million times over that my priorities have changed get in the way of your random rambling will you.

Yes, you ended up in a 1990's Accord because you were bored of the Mondeo. Thats absolutely it.

Jesus you're getting selective althzheimers aren't you

Bored, bought something I was more interested in, realised I wasn't that bothered and got something cheap and practical instead. I appreciate concepts like that, not keeping all your possessions in your wallet and other intricacies of my way of life might be challenging to understand, but do try to keep up ;)

It's getting pretty retarded that I can't share relevant knowledge and experience of previous cars without you pair herp derping along and trying to take the mick about my car choices. Who really cares - nobody reading this does, I don't because what I've got suits me perfectly for now.... Why are you both so obsessed?

It has every relevance. If you were honest in the first place and simply admitted that you got rid because you didn't run the risk of another £600 for a DMF, £1,000 for injectors, £1000 for a pump, and a whole host of other EGR, stalling, smoking, glow plug type problems, we wouldn't be having this conversation. I don't see what the big deal is in admitting that. Instead, you come up with several different ****-a-hoop stories whilst trying to maintain that the early TDCi engines run like a Swiss watch. That's silly.

But that's not why I got rid - I'd have been mire than happy to keep running it if I hadn't gotten bored. I've never implied otherwise, only your warped imagination has come up with that, You only seem to come out the woodwork around here to spout overinflated nonsense about ford diesel engines - it's a bit weird, like you have some sort of personal vendetta?

How come you were bored of the Mondeo but are satisfied with an older Accord?

This is why these threads are a bit like banging my head against a brick wall, you just don't read what's been said half the time

And this shouldn't even BE one of "those" threads, it's totally irrelevant in here and I'm entirely happy with my car

I dont understand why are you are entirely happy with your car if you were not entirely happy with your better Mondeo.

I also love internets.

I was doing 20k a year.

I'm now using the car maybe twice a week for a two mile drive plus socializing.

Also, sometimes you have to see and idea through to realise where your priorities are. Stick the mondeo back on my drive and I'd be as happy as I am now

Christ almighty, you previously said it was boring, so boring in fact, that you decided to get rid of it. Now you say you'd be happy with it.

You must be a woman in real life - nothing that you say makes any sense.

There really is no way to respond to someone like you, who just wants to have an argument and can't even comprehend simple sentences so I'm just going to put you in my ignore list instead

Is that the electronic equivilent of putting your fingers in your ear and going 'la la la'? :p

Nope, it's the electronic equivalent from walking away from the little runt in the pub who's determined to start a fight, because you just don't give a ****

Seriously, surely anyone can understand that someone doing 10-20 miles a week wouldn't care about having a boring car. He's just trolling
