You realise that the V6 that is going into them now and will be in the 2015 model are vastly better than the V8 of a few years ago? Better economy, better power, better emissions etc. It'll lack the V8 burble that that is actually a minor point all things considered.

The old V6 matched up to a slushbox auto were bad, modern ones are not.

Not forgetting it'll be a comical 300bhp RWD coupe, what's not to love? The only issue I see is they might try and charge a massive premium which will make the car much less desirable as it isn't a premium car.

It *should* be a 600BHP comical RWD coupe.

300BHP in something that weighs 1.8-2 tonnes is not a lot...

I agree, however, there have been many Mustangs in the past without a V8. This isn't anything new. But it is annoying that there isn't the at least the choice of a right hand V8 version.. that's the annoying thing. Unless of course you have a lot of money and buy the car and the engine and DIY :p

What?

The Mustang is a generic Ford coupe, I'm not sure what your argument is. Yes you can get tuned versions that offer more power (Saleen for example gave a ~500hp version of the same V8 that was 300hp stock), but that isn't the point. Ford are releasing an iconic coupe, it'll have an engine that produces a huge amount more power than most cars in the UK and yet you're complaining?
Saying it was designed to handle a much better engine is like saying you should only buy an M3, after all, the three series was designed to handle a better engine so why opt for a 318d? :rolleyes:

There will likely be tuner companies that will import V8 crates and fit them to the V6 cars (along with a suitable gearbox etc.)...it's how the tuning world works. It will of course cost a fair whack more to buy a V8 converted one.

In the same way that regular Mustangs are different from the 600BHP comical RWD coupes that you speak of. The standard 5.0 V8 is a touch over 400BHP.

If you want that kind of power you get a Shelby Mustang, which is the name of the high performance ones. Much in the same way that cars by the M division are high performance variants of normal BMWs.

You're just getting your wires crossed and stuck in the thought process that Mustangs are some exotic beast when they are just a mid size coupe? In fact the second and third generation Mustangs had a I4 variant!

That's simply not true.

3XX and M3 are completely different cars.

The Shelby and standard are almost identical.
 
To the traditionalist not having a V8 is a crying shame.

However this is the 21st century, and we have to get used to downsizing. The latest Mustang V6 chucks out plenty of power for most buyers.

I also suspect that if they offered a V8 the take-up would be so low it would be cost prohibitive.
