[Forever alone] Restaurants to eat in when you're on your lonesome?

Was in Utrecht a couple of months ago, wandered around the restaraunt district and everywhere was either full of locals or couples or completely dead. Went back to the hotel with my tail between my legs.

I hate eating in restaraunts alone.

I was there the other week for work and was fine eating in an Indian restaurant down by the canal. Even got chatting to a few other fellow diners... :p

Any restaurant with a bar area that they will serve your food to - sit at the bar and chat to the staff, they're usually glad of the company too and I often got brought extra food that people didn't want or barely touched - ***** +++ :D

Well, Wagamama is the only place to go.

I say this because I went there once and I'm pretty sure there was a couple on a first date or something and the entire way through it sounded and looked like it was failing hard.

I think most places are ok, so long as like others have said you have a book or something to occupy your attention. I think hotel restaurants are the worst, but that's because I've only eaten in them when they're empty and that's just depressing.

I went to Lewes - about 30 min by train from Eastbourne when my gf had Jury Service a few months back. As she wanted me to go with her and spent a good 4 hours in Costa Coffee on my own. At first i went in for a Large Mocha (nom nom) then went for a trip to Tesco to get some food & Practical Photography mag :P so went back to Costa and had another Mocha with ma food. and just read the mag untill gf had a break and knew she was on a case.

But i can't stand being a loner in a coffee shop not alone a restraunt

If I'm away on business then I'll eat in any restaurant which looks like it servers food I would like. Eating alone doesn't both me and i certainly wouldn't eat inferior food just because I'm alone.

Oo

I go to pubs on my own quite regularly. And occasionally I'll eat there but... not sure I'd be comfortable eating in a restaurant alone.

Still, only a matter of time, I suppose. Sigh.
