Forgot how bad job searching was :(

Just had one interview today in Wrexham, and am now in a hotel near Bristol for another in Portbury tomorrow. The one today was by far the most thorough so far, with a couple of written tests (maths/English, and Chemistry), plus two interviews. Due to internal problems there, I was there four hours. One oddity I noticed among the candidates: out of the three of us, one was in a suit (me), one in jacket and tie, and one in shirtsleeves without a tie. There's no proper dress code for the job itself (T-shirts seemed common), but I'd still say that shirtsleeves was pushing it.

Next interview is tomorrow at 09:45.

Back home after the second interview, which turned out to be the first of (possibly) two. This one was a bit outside my normal area of work, but I get the impression that the company concerned has struggled to find a person who is already an expert. No more interviews in the pipeline, so now I carry on applying while I wait to hear from the three jobs I've been interviewed for recently.

Had an interview for a job about 10 days ago, however they phoned me yesterday to tell me that I was too good for that job and would I like the more senior role the was available instead. :d :d :d

Now the anxious wait for the offer to land on my door mat to see what the salary is. I already know the minimum is more than my current salary :p

.... I hate waiting.

Wait... What! Never heard of that before. Congrats mate.

I had a call from a recruiter today saying a company wants to interview me, its a 9 month contract but its still a job and I'm in need of it so looking forward to it.

Applied for a job via an agency yesterday. Got a phonecall this morning asking for references, which I supplied. The guy then asked me if I had a more detailed CV, as my employment history only went back to 1994.

What, 18 years not good enough?! He seemed suprised when I said I was brought up to only ever need about 10 years worth of history.

Anyone else ever come across this? Seems stupid to me. I'm certainly not the same person I was when I left school and started working in the late 80s.

The only time I would think this could happen is if you have applied for a job that is different to your last job but you have experience in doing the new job (i hope this makes sense). Otherwise it is a bit fussy.

Had an email from James Cann's recruitment company (plugging me to add him on LinkedIn) as well as saying they've put me in the maybe pile and asked the employer to review my cv which could be good :)

Quite a bit happening these few weeks, one being passing my driving test :) :D

Good luck sir!

I've just finished my daily job search. Unemployed for 4 months or so now after finishing Uni, it's killing me. One of the worst periods in my life up to now (I know, first world problems). Weird how doing nothing at Uni wasn't too bad, but doing nothing on the dole really does make you feel utterly worthless.

I guess the job is somewhat different from what's on my CV as that's all IT support and Accountancy, and this one's just an admin job. Still, after 18 years, I barely remember a lot of the jobs I did before as they were mostly temp admin jobs and my YTS (and a lot of youthful unemployment) :)

Well, just updated my CV again, I'm off work next week as I'm only pro-rata where I am currently, so hopefully get some calls. Will need to apply to some jobs as well if anything takes my fancy

I had an interview yesterday. been out of work for 5 weeks now so I'm really pinning things on this, It's a job which will help me train in what I want to do and I was a bit taken back when I got a phonecall asking me to come for an interview.

7 days of torture :|

Quick question how has everyone decided what they want to do as a career??

Iv just finished uni and struggling to see where to start with jobs, applied for a few things locally to try and get started on deciding (so a few roles in schools to see if maybe teaching is where I could go) but I am just clueless to what my career will be.

Apply for anything that you think will be interesting and you're qualified for if that's the case. You'll find something you like, or find that money may be a bigger motivator, so you'll want to find something that you have earning potential/promotion potential.

I have an interview tomorrow. Only sent my CV to them yesterday, so promising hopefully.

im back at the work program tomorrow, supposed to be hearing off them about some security work at a new industrial estate thats just opening up. securitas have the contract so hopefully it wont be min wage and limited term contracts.

Well, well, well. I am such a lucky fellow. Just had the job offer phone call.

Can't quite describe just how much a relief it is to me to know I only have 20 days of the London commute to do.
