Forgot how bad job searching was :(

Good luck guys, this time of year is always difficult for job hunters! (from experience :p).

Getting pretty fed up with job hunting now. Had another interview on Friday morning, job seemed good with decent pay and something I would enjoy. Interview went really well, the guy seemed extremely happy with my CV and previous skills etc

But no phone call today, so back to filling more applications in! :(

Nothing worse than having someone gas you up. In your position I'd be so tempted to call them (even though I know I really shouldnt).

Unless you were the only candidate, and were local, and they were desperate, I'd be very surprised to get the call the next working day. Sometimes, yes; but a week is more common. I was also at an interview on Friday, and have heard nothing. But I won't be writing it off until at least Monday of next week. And either way I'll still be applying for jobs in the meantime: after a dozen interviews I've learned not to read anything into their reaction to you. Remember: most companies will try to look as keen to employ as you look keen to be employed. It's like women: just because they smile, it doesn't mean that they are interested.

Had an interview with ASDA today - was in the teeniest tiniest ASDA ever, reminded me more of a farmfoods, didn't know they had them this small. Just waiting a phone-call back to see if I get it or not, I really want it as it's a job.

How long have you been on the hunt? Also how do you think it went is the important question too!

Either way, best of luck!

Been out of work since September now, had my second interview on the 9th for an Engineering company (Industrial cable jointing). Said they would contact me either way last Wednesday but haven't heard from them since.

Phoned them up today and asked if their was any outcome from the interviews I had and was told they'd contact me when the PA has discussed it with her boss.

Wise move? or should I just leave it in future?

It's something that I've been trying to get into for a while so I wanted to seem keen without coming across as a pest.

They could be stringing along a set process for recruitment, it's not abnormal for these to take ages, my company took almost a month before I heard anything back from the 2nd interview and likewise other organisations work the same way.

If they've said they're going to contact you back and not given a date when exactly then I'd personally wait another week before enquiring again - At least this shows interest.

Got made redundant from the failure that is Overclockers 'competitors' in Manchester in March 2012, done a few weeks work since then sporadically - had about 6 weeks off job hunting during this time too due to families health.

I thought it went ok - they didn't give much away, it was a one-on-one, I made out that I was as flexible hours-wise and that I was a grafter which is true so hopefully.

Ah that is good! Well fingers crossed for good news then :) - Also I do remember you mentioning family health last year in the SS too :(

Yeah - all solved now though, we got the all clear for my Dad about 2 months ago now which was awesome. He had one of these:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subarachnoid_hemorrhage

Was coiled, shunt put in but re-bled so had to be re-operated on, confirmed to have worked so they tried it without a shunt until he collapsed again with fluid-buildup on the brain so they shunted him again and now he got the all-clear.

Mum has COPD, Diabetes and Angina so it's one health-thing after another here haha so I got used to it.

Ah well it sounds like things are moving along since last year so all the hope for the best to continue too :)

Love my new job. Second day in so far.

Great colleagues (most are gamers and my manager is a motorbike enthusiast and moonlights as the vocalist in a classic rock band, and he's a trained opera singer!).

Best thing is that even though my MD is a stoney-faced strict guy, he did pay for a ping pong table to be set up in the next room and started a staff tournament! Never had such a fun lunch break at work!!

We have a table tennis table at work, far too much time is spent playing ... not winning, just playing :P

Just to update I now have a job as an IT Technician, getting from interview to job has been very quick which has been great. They seem busy and keen to get me on board and aren't even checking references.

1st day tomorrow and I'm looking forward to it.

Well I'm not getting very far with the career ideas so far, lots of silence from applications after a week or two of closing.

Not fretting so much now though as I have started as the night time care taker at the school my mum is a governor of. Would have pretty much done it for free at the moment but getting a few hours a week cleaning up a few rooms, doing basic site maintenance and locking the place up is a good start for now, plus £8 an hour is helpful.

Just need get a bit more motivation in the day time to ramp up applications.

Yesterday's final interview seemed to go pretty well.

Only real concern are the travel expenses. I've recently moved to Hertfordshire and it will cost me at least 10.60 per day to get to and from the new place of work.... Based on the salary they're offering (which is pretty reasonable) I doubt it'll be worth it. Will have to start doing some calculations..

After that interview I received another call from a different recruiter. Just a call saying that I have an interview in Camden this Monday.

I've only been offered the job. Looks like I may start in January. Decent way to kick off the start of a new year!
