Forza 2 latest Update and Demo Discussion Thread

PGR3 does still look great to me, but its so rubbish only 30FPS :p :D

Shame the demo never arrived in April as was suggested, but we are still one day closer to the full game :D

Actually, (and of course it would be easy to be wrong here) are they the same corner?

The PGR3 pic looks like the final corner (or one of them) before the long start/finish straight. At the end it sweeps round to the right and onto the straight.

The Forza pic obviously doesn't do that judging by the map.

Could be wrong though :o

Yes it is the the same corner.I used the map.

neeeeeeeeeeeeeeed demooooooooooooooooooo

This is killing me, been looking forward to this game for months. Got GT5 to tide me over, but i wanna try it.

GT HD you mean, GT5 is due I know not when, 2008?

That video looks interesting, all the help aids turned on and he still was failing to account for the momentum of the car into and out of corners (over steering on exit)
Was damage turned off, he seemed to break the windscreen but not much else dispite some thumps.
The game looks to err on the side of the arcade sim type

Guess we wont really know until we play it, looks to me like the car is reacting as it should to bad driving and not making your braking points.

In fairness to the driver, I think it is much easier to control the car in this type of game from the in-car view rather than the chase view.

I know that track like the back of my hand.As soon as i saw the Forza pic i knew what corner it was and went straight to it,but when i got there it looked so different i had to check the map.

Which reminds me how poo it is that it does not have cockpit view, major letdown for me really.

while this doesn't bother a lot of people, gotta admit it's a real missing element for me also.

when playing the GT series I've often had a horrible feeling I'm a floating camera object!

Not for me. The problem I have with cockpit view in these sorts of games is that the field of view is too narrow, nothing like "cockpit" view in real life. The bonnet view on the other hand provides a much better view point and is much better to use whilst driving (IMO) :).

Coming from PC racing, then I am used to being in the cockpit, just feels natural, off course its a massive can of worms when you ask on a PC sim forum what is more realistic in cockpit or bonnet cam, personally I can use both and my times are near enough the same, outside the car does give advantages, but for real immersion then cockpit view is ideal.

yup. i'd argue that having a restricted view by having the car body surrounding the window gives a better experience. of course the angle of view needs to be right. never caused me any problems on the PC, only heightens the experience.

I've always enjoyed playing racing games "Ridge Racer" Style, with just the clock dials on screen.

Hope this game has such a view or a bonet view at least.

Interesting one this. I absolutley loved the cockpit view of PGR3, was one of, if not THE best improvement, but thats because I always played it with a controller. Thinking about it, now I have the MS FF Wheel in preperation for Forza 2 (come aaaaan wheres the demo Che?) the bonnet view is going to be ideal. What do you see sat in a real car as your eyes are on the road? The top of your steering wheel and then the bonnet :) I personally dont want to see two steering wheels.

Of course its absolutely personal preference, and for some a disappointing omission.
