Found my cat but not good news :(

RIP

Now do your remaining cats a favour and make them house cats.

such bad advice, how do you do it?
A cat in a house will never have a mouse! remember that and think about it.

Sorry to hear your loss OP. I was witness to the aftermath of such an event once, id agree its never pretty but in this instance the cat was 100% dead when I saw it so I doubt any pain was caused to your little one and it was indeed instant.

I have two cats myself and I would hate the day if anything happened to them, but you gotta let them live their lifes and unfortunately accidents just happen

Did the Vets try and charge you anything? If they do, just remember how your cat had a big white spot, and was a different colour, and was a different sex, lived 300miles from there, and you've never owned a cat before, you thought the vets was a dentist and you walked in accidentally off the street while confused by being hit on the head, you're a time-traveller from an alternative universe and have no comprehension of how things work on Earth and you need to rush off and meet all the World leaders immediately.

This is why I'll never have another cat/dog. Had a cat once and it shattered my heart into a million pieces when it got sick and had to be put down.

Never again :(

RIP

It's safer for cats to not wear a collar, they can often get stuck in a fence or worse get their leg caught in the collar.

Just get them chipped

Thanks all again for the nice comments :)

Even after this I could never keep them indoors as they love being outside.

It's just what happens with cats and you just hope it does not happen to yours :(

Here some pictures of tigger :)

not nice im afraid. I text my step dad (david norman) (not sure if you saw my message in your other thread) but he text back a while ago saying not there.

At least you have closure that you know what happened, it was instant and have found him this is worth a lot mentally I think.

best regards

ross

I find it kinda cool that in those pictures he's sleeping on a mouse mat, next to a mouse. :)

From all those pics it is fairly obvious that he was a happy, much loved cat.

Sorry for your loss man, the same thing happened to me a couple of years ago. I can still remember when it happened and what I was doing when our cat got run over :(

So so sorry to hear such horrible news :( Thankfully you have lots of lovely pictures and memories to cherish :)

Just a quick word on the house cat thing... I adopted Poppy from the RSPCA and was told that she has always been a house cat.

Due to this and her passive nature, I was strongly urged to keep her as a house cat. I go through times of guilt when I look at her sat by the windows observing the world but truth be told I'm happy she is indoors protected from the various threats outside.

Perhaps when I move and have a garden I can start letting her outside. I think there are valid reasons for cats to be kept inside but I don't think you should force a cat to stay in if they are used to going out.

I don't have a cat flap so I have to keep the cats in if I'm going out for the whole day but even though they spend most of their lives outside I still feel bad when I've got to leave and they are trying to chase me out the door so they can be outside.

I'm so sorry for you dude :( Your cats are beautiful.
I guess the only positive is that at least you know for sure now. Not knowing must've been terrible.

Dread the day when I have to say goodbye to my dog. Hopefully she's got another 10 years in her barring misfortune.

Don't get the house cat thing either.
I remember being at the vet's with my dog and a guy had a stunning exotic cat there which he said never got to leave the house. Why? Because it was a very expensive breed and he lived in a 2nd floor flat on an estate where it would most likely be stolen if allowed to roam free.
Talk about selfish. You don't buy an exotic cat just so you can sit there looking at it like a piece of expensive furniture.
Could've got himself a 'normal' breed and let it live a life.

This IMO opinion is cruel (unless you own mansion with your own fields and stuff).

As someone once said, "Sure a house cat lives longer. It's a furball that can only sit in the window looking out at a world it'll never enjoy, but yeah it lives longer". Point being, it is better to die young but enjoy your life than to live to an old age but never have any fun.

All living things will die eventually, at least the OP's cat had a great life outdoors exploring and being in it's natural environment. What's the point in being a cat that lives 20 years if the whole of that time your are imprisoned in one house and never experience the outside world?

When humans start doing that we call them Agoraphobic and get a doctor to speak to them so why is it acceptable to do it with a cat?

Cats are not there for your amusement or comfort, they're there to be a cat first and companion second. Keeping a cat locked away all day because there's a very tiny chance that it could get knocked over is nothing short of selfishness IMO. You are putting your fear about losing the cat above the cat's right to do what it does.

Having said all that, I'll never understand why people who live on busy main roads keep cats, that's just asking for it.

It is not cruel, house cats have been removed from the wild for over thousands of years and cats only become accustomed to going outside if they are from a young age.
Cats are no different from any other animal, letting them roam outside to **** everywhere and pick up god knows what isn't responsible as a pet owner.

There's plenty of things you can do to help your cat be more active. You can get some cat trees, toys or you could swallow your masculinity and take it on walks. There's no problems with doing that and I know plenty of cats that will actually walk with a human off and on the leash and still happily climb trees but stay with their human and safe.

Also forgot to mention cat enclosures in gardens. I've seen plenty in small gardens that are big enough for them to roam outside and even have cat wheels.

Don't bring the stupid live fast, die young philosophy here.

It's really not bad advice, you're talking to someone who breeds and been looking after Bengals for the past 6-7years as my grandparents have been doing it for near enough 30years.

The way cats are these days you have 2 kinds. The kind like Bengals were they're too curious to care that a car is coming at them at full speed and the ones that no longer have any animal instinct and get run over because they don't have what it takes to live outside.

If domesticated cats really were meant to be able to roam freely then they'd be able to fend for themselves aswell as there being wild cats in the uk that aren't full of disease.

Because theft of expensive cats is a very real thing. When you can sell a cat for £6-700 and its roaming around and tame then you'll get a lot of people just take it.

Sorry for your loss, I can understand how you feel. 2 years ago I bought a beautiful little kitten and after owning him for only a month, my friend left the back door open one evening and he escaped, we found his remains in the morning as he'd been killed and eaten by a fox, I swear I've never cried so much but I can assure you it does get easier with time. I was lucky to get his older sister from the same litter to replace the loss, she is a house cat and never let outside.
