Free firewall wanted for ME

Someone I know is still running ME. A firewall would really be a good idea. Money is an issue and there's no way they could use anything other than Windows, so a new OS is out of the question.

I couldn't find a free firewall for download that still supports ME. Can anyone help me out here?

If you can find anything that still supports Windows 98, I am pretty sure it will be comaptible with ME also.

Not going to remark on the operating system, I am sure you have heard it all before :D

True, but I couldn't find anything that still supported 98, either. I know that ME is essentially 98 Third Edition.

I still have the disk for 98 SE somewhere. I got good value for money from that.

It isn't my system, thank goodness, but I dislike doing half a job on anyone's PC. Sure, I cleared hundreds (literally hundreds) of bits of malware off, but what's the point without a firewall?

Thank you, but I tried download.com earlier today. None of the free firewalls there support any Windows earlier than 2K.

That's exactly what I was looking for!

Do you know which of the old versions of firewalls there is the easiest to use? I'm sure they won't use anything if it's more complicated than the occasional box saying "<Foo> wants access. Allow it?" and possibly not even then. I've known a fair few people who just click "Yes", whatever appears.

Older versions of Sygate were easy to use and a very effective program.
