Freesat; any way to test existing Sky dish?

Hi all

My house has a Sky dish and cabling that comes through the wall that terminates in two connections with screw ends (sorry, don't really know anything about Sky connections!). I'm looking to switch from a Virgin Media TV package to Freesat, but before I buy a Freesat box, is there any way of knowing whether the existing Sky dish and cabling work? Part of the reason for the switch is to minimise costs and having to pay an engineer to sort out the Sky dish and cabling would defeat the purpose of this switch!

Many thanks

M.

What type of TV have you?
The Samsung I had, I bought as it had a built-in freesat tuner, so just 'screwed' it into the back of the TV, ran the channel scan and all was marvellous.

You can buy a tester, that should help with alignment and signal strength. Not sure how much those cost, but it should let you know all works prior to use.

Else buy online and return 'unused' if it doesn't work.

I think it'll just be a case of buying online and trying.

Thanks

M
