Am getting a new Wideband aerial fitted tomorrow.

Im now in second thoughts as wondering wether to just sign up for freesat as allready have a dish and a Sky STB.

Ive read lots of stories regarding Freeview picture quality.

Am getting a Good aerial with deecent cabling installed.

Pro's and con's of both in no real order:

Currently less quality channels on Freesat.

I would argue that Sky's EPG is far superior to any of the Freeview Box's.

If you would like to buy a PVR then you would have to go Sky+ with Freesat at a cost of £10pm. Lots of models available on Freeview.

You could sign up to Sky for an entire year, receiving free equipment and install, then cancel after 12months. Overall cost will be around the same as a Freesat or Aerial install.

Easier and cheaper to distribute the aerial feed around the house so all TV's can receive Freeview.

Note:
There are currently LOTS of Aerial "cowboys" around, they do shoddy work and have no real idea what they are doing. If possible chat to the guy and find out which transmitter he is going to align you with and ask if he uses a meter. Most cowboys are so stupid they have no idea of the transmitters and don't even own a meter, they probably would have no idea how to use it anyway!

Any more questions then fire them away.

EDIT - Just noticed you said you already have all of the Sky equipment, do you not have any sort of viewing card?

I have 2 Sky+ STB's with viewing cards from a subscription which expired in November.

I like the Sky+ PVR service and like the EPG.. although the lack of channels and £10 a month for the PVR service is putting me off.

Also, paying £15 a month for 2 Sky mixes and then £10 for the PVR is a little off putting when I could get Freeview for the £130 installation fee.

Will bare in mind what you mentioned about the installer. Had a chat with the installer today, seems to be a reputable company and the person seemed to know what he was doing.

He said will install an Alliminium pole.. is that better than a galvanised steel one?

Yea, aluminium is better really. Lighter and lasts longer.

Your Sky+ boxes will be Freesat boxes already!

You won't have to pay anything for Freesat, you already have it, right?

Yes.. but some of the channels, E4 and More specifically are missing unless you take one of the "Mix" packs and subscribe again.

I got freeview a few weeks ago, to be honest it's great.

The box was only £40 and I now have 20+ extra TV stations including (ITV2, e4, more4, two music video chans and my current fav. abc1)

For such a small price of the box you can't go wrong really!
