My mates 6800 GT has started to display lots of full stops across his "POST" screen on boot up, followed by blue lines, akin to a VCR's test screen whilst XP is booting up.
The machine crashes with a BSOD "Page Fault in non paged area" on attempt to install drivers.
In safe mode however, the screen is fine.
I'm assuming its shafted, although I was going to test the card in my machine first. Before I do, do I run any risk of damaging my pc by testing his card?
And, assuming it is indeed borked, I'm considering a 7800 AGP as a replacement for him.
Is this card well matched to a 3ghz p4 Prescott (Sct 478)? he has 2GB Geil 3200DDR on an Abit Ic-7 mobo he plays Battlefield 2 at high settings with AA & AF and absolutely nothing else!
Any thoughts appreciated.
