Friends Reunited - What's the point?

Just had an email off them offering me a whole 20% discount!

Woo I nearly fell of my seat whilst reaching for my wallet!

What's the point of this site now that FB does it a million times better and is FREE?

I used to recieve emails off old school mates years ago before facebook but since I've never updated my profile and never recieved any emails!

Apparently rode the dot com bust a few years back and posted profits of £17m in 2007. With Facebook I agree, no idea why they're still fairly successful.

Last time I used Friends Reunited it was free but you had to pay to get in contact with people, I assume it's still the same?

I knew one of the guys who started Friends Reunited (the one that wasn't part of the couple) - they sold at exactly the right time.

There is no point in Friends Reunited anymore thats why they had to stop charging.

It was a pretty revolutionary site when it first came out. It may have even been the first proper social networking site... It all started to go downhill when they started to charge to see your friends contact details (including just their e-mail address!)

Quite suprised they are still going, tbh.

Is their target market not a lot older than that of Facebook? I can see my gran using Friends Reunited, but not Facebook.

The picture of the woman on the front pretty much says it all - she's in her 40s/50s.
