I've just been upgraded to FTTC after waiting ten years and thought I would splash out on a new router.

Anyway got the internet up and running but how do you connect your analogue phone to use the in built answer machine etc. They sent me a Y cable splitter and I have read it's needed for BT lines, but one end is the normal flat white BT connecter with a RJ11/12 next to it, the other end of the cable is an RJ45.

On the back of the router it uses RJ11/12, my VDSL faceplate has one RJ11/12 and one normal BT connection, flat white.

Any idea's, I've looked online but there does not seem to be any info how to connected the wires, just the stuff inside the router itself.

Cheers.

SJ.

I'm a bit confused. Who is 'they'? How is your telephone line delivered? Is it through the normal BT phone socket or is it a VoIP number that's delivered from the FritzBox? What, exactly, are you wanting to connect?

If you're wanting to connect a telephone to the phone port on the back of the FritzBox then if your phone has a BT flat connector on it, you'll need one of these.
