from a Q9550 to an I7 920????? do i ???

I also tried a couple with the RAM at both 8x and 10x and there were no differences so its either down to the decimal point or it needs to be a longer test to be noticable, but it all seems like CPU work like you said.

don't suppose anyone with an I5 setup reading this could try? lol

atm i am looking arround and becoming more positive on the idea of a 2nd system being I5 at least, from reviews and stats AMD would be pointless unless their 6 cores come out sharpish,

anyone know intels next processor release date and what processors they will be?

i hope to be in some money this coming month too so you never know i might go I7 after all but only if i get lucky.

Can't clock it higher as stupid Asus p5n32 sli Mobo doesnt like more than 300FSB. :mad:

Shame really as it seems 100MHz shaves around 5 seconds off.

yeah looks like a Core 2 Duo is out the question in a system and AMD unless they release something amazing before u make a purchase (should be in under a months time)

on my Q9550 i got nearly 50% performance increase from 2.8Ghz to 3.612Ghz :)
 
I think I will change that setup somehow as its main use is media (including encoding) and for the price of even a mid range non-sli mobo p5q maybe? it should speed it up a lot, but then instead of buying that I could just get a quad core and mobo. :confused:

Ideally I could use my i7 for encoding instead but I cant justify buying it and not using it as the main rig :eek:

may look into asus p5q first and then maybe a cheap i5 with mid range board as I have some ddr3 already.

more money...........:(

no matter what setup i get next it will be my main rig, should hopefully have everything finalised within a couple of weeks

btw guys, will the next set of processors from Intel be a socket 1366 (I7 type) or something else you know??
