From X850Xt to X1950 pro - worth it?

I was wondering if it´s worth the money to do get an x1950 pro to replace my "dated" x850. Is it worth the money?
And what about memory. Do you get real performance gains from 512mb? I´m running at 1280*1024, so do I need the extra mem?
And is the card much slower than the x1950xt?...even if it is, my guess is that it has a much higher oc potential, or am I wrong?

please do buy it as it will make you weep with joy, 512MB at 1280 x 1024 will be an added bonus if you care to add a dash of AA/AF. go for it fella you won't regret it

The X1950Pro offers great performance for the money & a nice upgrade from the X850 you have. At the res you state a 256MB card will do fine.
 
Definately worth it, you'll be totally blown away by the performance increase, i went from an x800 XT PE to my x1800 XT, its gobsmacking the increase, and as said above for 1280x1024 256mb will be fine, there'll be no diff from the 512mb at that res. :D

I just got my X1950 XT 256Mb GPU today. Its brill I am loving this, most games so far have got virtually maxed out settings. I am using 1280x1024 res as well. Might start doing a bit of OC and get it to an XTX level. Forget the Pro card and go for this one instead ;)
 
I got the Xt too, my benchies are still hovering around the Pro range but i think thats cos of the drivers and my processor (3700) - still im almost doubling the fps from my x850xt especially in 3dmark06 because of all the tricks it can do. well worth it, especially when decent drivers come out, it will blow aay what i can achieve with a pro and only cost 30 squid more.
 
Well, that sounds convincing! :)

Have already ordered it! Though I went for the 512 version. It doesn´t cost that much more, but I think that new (not to be released) games can use that extra mem even with standard res.

The X1950xt also came in to my mind, yet I got the feeling that you can squeeze more out of the pro than the xt, specially when you got a decent watercooling solution. They use the same ram afaik, yet the clocks are quite different....
