Hi all,

A friend of mine and myself would like to send files to each other via FTP but we are at lose ends on how to actually do it, can anyone help us!! :o

We have both installed ALTFTP but no joy there we just can't seem to connect to each other but we can connect to sites through it though.

All we won't to do is send some movie files to each other from a holiday in the quickest possible way, if anyone knows of a way to setup a direct FTP to another computer or any helpful info would be great.

Cheers guy's

Never used Altftp but seeing as you mention it can connect to sites, that suggests it's an FTP client. You're trying to connect to each other using two FTP clients?

One end needs to be running an FTP server then the other end needs to be running an FTP client. Just install something simple like FileZilla FTP Server on one end.

It's also worth noting that the end running the FTP server, if behind a router, will need a port forward/VIP/whatever terminology the router/firewall calls it for traffic to get through.

thanks for the replay, we have sorted the problem now, ALFTP is a client/server much like filezilla. The problem was he wasn't giving me his global IP just his networks :)
