Hi guys,

I have a company fuel card, but currently do not have private fuel included and therefore am not taxed. I want to work out whether it will be worth opting into the all inclusive fuel scheme.

How is the tax done on pre 2001 cars? I realise that post 2001 it would be the P11D value (14400ish) by the co2 based tax rate by my highest tax rate, but my car is a 1999 model....

Thanks :)

From what I can gather rates are fixed for any car that does not have a CO2 output

>1400 is 15%
1400-2000 is 25%
<2000 is 35%

The 14,400 is the amount of fuel benefit the above percentages are then applied to result in the benefit figure you are taxed on. This is increasing to £16,800 in april.

The P11D value of your car is not £14400.

£14400 is a fixed value set by the government which is multiplied by the taxation banding :) As the person above me posts, this is rising "inline" with inflation to a new value come the new tax year.

Looks like my car is 35% then, as its >2000cc. Not overly surprising :)
