Hi all,

How can I find out what the fuel consumption rate is for the (1998) Saxo Expose 1.1 is?

I tried google but couldn't find anything I understood.

Basically, how far can it go per litre of fuel?

In my 1.0 saxo i usually average aout 47mpg over the tank, and not being carefull with the throttle. More than likely that 43 will be combined, so it will go up the more motorway driving you do.

Over one tank i managed to get 437 miles when the light first came on, 51mpg

Co'z I know how much a litre of fuel costs and trying to work out the expenses for a long drive from Brighton to Glasgow.

Worked it to be around £48+- :(

Get the train, Saxo's don't do long motorway journeys well especially the 1.1.

a 1.1 is gonna be really laboured at motorway speeds though, and would use more fuel than say a 1.4 or 1.6 at motorway speeds (i think anyway)

brighton to glasgow on £48? - sounds reasonable to me

Haha i saw that ninja edit!

O RLY?

Yep :p

Yeah, was really doubting the economy, but have found a few references on saxo sports club that appear to tally! Didn't think it was possible tbh!

Not if you're doing 60-70mph.

1.1i gives 60bhp and with saxo, it goes from 0-60 mph in just 12 seconds and top speed of just over 100mph. These figures are better than today's supermini with bigger engine.

Depending on trims, it can be anywhere from 42 to 46 combined (from parker's) so you can expect to get better than this on motorway.

I drive a 1.1i Saxo, my mums, I find it fine for motorway driving, sure it's not going to win any races or anything, but I can overtake safely and quickly when I need to, and will hapily do 80, though screams a little, and doesn't like sidewinds at all being on 2in wide tyres. I get around 100 miles out of £10, though on the motorway more like 120 for £10, whatever that works out to be.

You don't have to do 80 on the motorway. You can just cruise around at 60-70 if that's what is most confortable. I'm not an impatient driver :)
