Hi all,

I am looking for a pre built gaming system that will run WoW BFA at ultra settings easily in all environments, I know WoW is more processor reliant rather than being GPU reliant so I have a budget of around £1100. I also need to have Windows as I am still running Windows 7 and don't have an upgrade. I don't really mind how the PC looks (lights, bells whistles etc) I just want it to do the job really.

I am just not sure if this would be good or would I better looking at AMD processors cause people have said they are better for WoW cause of cores? I am just a little lost looking through all this. Can anyone help or show me a system that would do the trick at all?

This satisfies the BFA requirements for 70GB SSD space and greatly exceeds the CPU, GPU and RAM requirements.


WoW is usually a very single-core orientated game - where max core speed is key - but BFA is introducing DX12 support, which may mean better multi-core usage (and less reliance on single-core speed).



You could also just save yourself a lot of money and get this:

Again, this PC exceeds the min specs in all areas, but the CPU and GPU is slower than the above build. You may need to turn some ultra settings down slightly as the GPU is weaker..




But without proper BFA benchmarks, and requirements not being finalized, it's hard to pick the exact spec that can run BFA ultra 60fps+ everywhere.

Thanks for the reply, I am looking to spend a bit more to future proof the computer too, so the top one is looking great. Is there much difference between the i5 and i7 as well as the GTX 1060 and GTX 1070?

@southernorth pre-build are above recommended , which has changed a lot since the expansion was announced - lot more coding has taken place and DX12 along with DX9 being dropped from their product range- wont be long before WOW ditches it.

big difference between the 1060 and 1070 specially if you want to run higher res and max framerates. I7 should hold more of a higher average frame rate when taking part in massive raids - specially on 1080p screen.

ryzen option with a much more powerful GPU- prob run 4k if you wish

system has a few tweaks that need to be done - changing of ram from 2400hz to 3000hz+
Ryzen 2600 will auto overclock for you as well and board will be able to handle ryzen 3*** and 4*** CPUs in the future .​

Ryzen is indeed a great option, but I'd just be concerned about the low RAM speed in that pre-built and the lack of an SSD.

I've seen a few YouTube videos testing DX12 mode in the beta, and multi-core usage doesn't seem much improved. We shall see when the game is more finished I guess.

always a kicker that, I hate why OCUK do that - they arent a dodgy cheap vendor selling on ebay so might as well list 3000hz + and up the price a little

It really seems like it. I done a custom build and could fit a GTX 1080 and a Ryzen 7 2700x into the one machine for less than £1300. Where the same build with the i7 was close to £1600. Just really strange the huge price difference for not a huge increase. I have read that RAM can be an issue with the Ryzen, is the 2400mhz speed okay or should I try and push that to the 3000mhz?

Or can change the above build motherboard for: MSI B350 Gaming Plus AMD B350 (Socket AM4) DDR4 ATX Motherboard and the RAM to: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-24000C15 3000MHz Dual Channel Kit - Black (CMK16GX4M2B30)
Results in about £10 more but I am willing to spend that to make sure the machine is good. Which build do you think would be better?

X370 is the better board .
Grab 16gb via 2x8gb sticks
I listed 1060 as thought you'd be gaming at 1080p . If screen res is higher 1440p then gtx 1070/70ti to save cash over 1080.
Also spec'd far superior PSU and larger SSD which would store WOW .

If you haven't got a 144hz+ 1080p then yeah. It would last a lot longer playing games mind , that would be used as another though, most people that buy high end cards like that tend to keep for 2gens of GPU, though this time around currently Pascal 1*** series is getting old and older still ! Haha .
Gtx 1070ti is more appealing as it's cheaper and offers close to the raw horse power of the gtx 1080 - this you don't feel as bad and can justify it to your brain hah

Unless your streaming, then 6 core 12 thread ryzen will be fine . Plus once Zen2+ rolls out in 2019/20 most could upgrade their chip to be fair - why x370 board is selected

Nothing is future proof, next Nvidia card will have edge over current has its v-ray support is via hardware etc etc
