I found a perfect flat in both cost and location, its already furnished and a bit "family / girly" for blokes.

Anyone have experience in a furnished flat and what options landlords often give?

If I was renting probably furnished. Might cost a bit more but if you're not going to be there long you don't want the hassle of arranging furniture moves.

Since your place is a "bit girly" you've got an excuse that it was furnished already. After a few months I'm sure your beer can tower will soon have a new home. ;)

I've had both furnished and unfirnished.

Unfurnished is the way forward if at all possible.
If you stay there a long time things will break, you can at least decide what furniture you want/need.

Most landlords don't mind if you move furniture around or even store it somehwere. as long as it's put back.

Furnished properties usually cost more as well.

Is the place, the building opposite is where i work, so 30seconds away...

Not bad between 4 of us with bills, id guess around £400 a month (excluding food)

4 bedroom penthouse

£995 pcm

Four double bedroom penthouse suite with family bathroom and seperate en-suite, fully fitted kitchen with all integral white goods, private lift, allocated parking, 2 balconies with sea views. Comes fully furnished comprising of Leather sofa's & T.V's to all bedrooms, incuding plasma to lounge.

nothing girly about that. the bed covers and pillows probably won't come with it. It looks nice and plain once you take away the stuff you can hide/wont come with the property.

i personally have always had unfurnished.

It may cost more for you initially but over time it is cheaper and if you already have some stuff such as chairs, bed etc then other stuff you can get at a later date.

Plus as has been said there is less to break and I have been screwed over in the past by landlords saying stuff has been damaged when it hasn't.

:eek::eek:
That appears to be excellent value for money. I pay more than that for a 2 bed unfurnished apartment :(

I prefer unfurnished as I have my own furniture and it provides more flexibility. I can get the place looking how I want it therefore making it more like a home. Furnished is great if you are just starting out and can't afford a few grand to spend on furniture but if you can afford furniture, I'd recommend going for unfurnished.
Also, when moving out you're less likely to get unexpected bills for silly little scratches and stains which most furniture will inevitibly pick up.
