fx55 TO fx60 upgrade advice needed please

i'm upgrading my Asus a8n sli deluxe from a FX55 clawhammer cpu to a FX60 and would appreciate some advice:

I need to upgrade the motherboard bios and was wondering if it's advisable to do this via the asus windows bios updater or to go via the dos route.

I'm going for an Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro CPU Cooler for the FX60 unless there is a better alternative?

Also will the mobo auto detect the cpu and set all the timings etc?

Generally speaking it is better and safer to do it via the BIOS, but only if you have a floppy drive.

If your mobo has a decent BIOS updater software then use that, make sure you back up your original one though.
