Hey everyone, quick question, i have a p55-gd80 mobo and core i5 750 waiting for some ram and i'd like to order soon for delivery tomorrow.
So, would i see any noticeable difference from any of the G.skill ripjaw set's with the Geil ultra series on this week only for £74.98, or would it be a wasted £7 from say this set of ripjaws?

Everyone seems to be recommending the ripjaw's but i'd like some opinions now that they are closer in price.

Im planning to overclock to 4ghz if that makes any difference btw, haven't got a decent cooler yet though as there isn't much choice atm.

Thanks!

Ive been reading that the geil is very nice on the gd80, unfortunately i couldnt link the articles without extensive searching again.

Im planning a build myself wiht the i7 860, msi gd80 and i was planning to get Ripjaw 4GB 1600MHz for £73.99 but since the geil ultra is now at £74 im edging to the geil.

Run the geil as aggressively as you can and its in theory good enough to last for years to come and drop into future ddr3 rigs

I bought some of the Ripjaw 1600C7 and running it @ 1950MHz C9 with 1.6v, has been spot on, would be interested to how the Geil performs.

Also waiting for a reply about a psu in another topic though and id rather order both together so might end up ordering tomorrow in time for friday delivery, ah wells.

From another post which I made in another forum thread.

The G.Skill Ripjaw 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-16000C9 2000MHz xtreme people are clocking these to 2133 @ 8-9-8-20 1T VDIMM 1.65 Volts & 2200 @ 8-9-8-20 1T VDIMM 1.7 Volts & contain Elpida BBSE ics.

The G.Skill Ripjaw 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C7 1600MHz use Powerchips ics & appear to clock similar i.e. 2000mhz @ 9-9-9-24

Check this thread: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=233620 although no full stability tests done, it is xtreme forum though.

Theres lots of info about, google is your friend.

The G.Skill Ripjaw 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-16000C9 2000MHz seem a right bargain if you ask me!

Considering there clocking as good as the Corsair Dominator GT 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-16000C8 2000MHz ram which costs £159.99 inc VAT but they will probally clock even better with Elpida Hyper ics.

I've just gone and done the same (GD80, 860, + Geil), although they would have to put the Geil on TWO the day after I bought it! :)
I might just buy the extra 4GB and go to 8GB I guess :)
