G1 KILLER MOTHERBOARDS!

what affect does that have on performance?

on the bit tech sandybridge memory roundup (i think it was them) the difference between 1333 and 2133 ram was tiny :/ like 1 fps.

I think you need a x58 setup for 6core/multi graphics cards, but otherwise better value in sandybridge :\. its a shame intel has just released a bunch of cpu's and then stopped for that platform.

These are rather good value if you think about it.

Take the rampage 3 extreme for example. It's near on £300. Add an Bigfoot network card for £70. Then throw in an £80 x-fi... It's now at £450... Yes the boards are still more money but there are other features such as an nf200 chip which is far from cheap. The main gain in having all of this integrated is that you have 2 top products that now don't use up any valuable expansion slots which means ramming 4x 580s on to the board is now not only possible but you don't need an UD9, or classi 4 way to do so which means normal cases people! No stupidly over priced cases adding to the system cost.

Factor in everything above and it's clear that these although expensive are exceptionally well thought out and very good value for money :)

I beg to differ. £450 for a mobo is about £350 too expensive for me.

that doesnt really mean a whole lot, jaybee.

Andrew Moore, yes it does look like good value...next to a rampage 3, which is only that expensive because of it's elite status, not the performance that comes with it. It is not, for instance, nearly £200 better than my asus m4a89gtd pro usb3.

Real men use Intel NICs. ;)

I rarely take a look into these hardware sub-sections anymore but this pricing just takes the biscuit.

Given you can get the EVGA Classified SR-2 for that kind of money and frankly if I had the money to spend on hardware like that I know which way I would be heading.

I remember buying a DFI SLi-DR for £300 for these "better features" back in the day when the Ultra-D or whatever it was [bottom end board] was half the price and I regretted it.

Fair play if you can afford one, waste of money in my eyes especially as overclocking is about getting cheap stuff and overclocking it to beat or come extremely close to beating the £££ stuff...
