GA-965G-DS3 and scythe ninja revb?

Many thanks for the reply
Now i have to return my Gigabyte GA-G31MX-S2 as the ninja touches the heatsink slightly when fitted
I am guessing this is a big no no?!

Nothing wrong with the Ninja touching the heatsink as long as both are still attached correctly.

Really? i thought i was screwed.I thought the pipes at the bottom of the cooler would transfer heat to the motherboard heatsink.Or short even short the board??

The heatsink it touches is the big one with gigabyte written on

So this is all ok?

Thanks again for your reply, you have saved me a lot of hassle and money in sending the MB back

Post a pic if you can. But as long as the Ninja is seated correctly and isn't being hampered by the northbridge heatsink then it'll be fine.

Don't think i have done this right, but you can click the links to view the pics

The coolerdoes lean against the heatsink quite firmly

Just upload some more pics

It's a bit blurry, but the Ninja looks OK.

Are your temps ok?

I haven't even booted it up.After i noticed the ninja resting against the heatsink.I packed the motherboard away for return. The pictures i took are of the ninja fitted to the MB outside my case

Thanks again for all your help

I was gonna buy the ASUS P5K or Gigabyte GA P35C DS3R but being so tight i went for the cheap MB
I bet these boards don't have a problem with the ninja!

I got this setup, the only pain in the arse i think was pluggin the additional power. It was so hard to do with my Ante182 but it all was the effort. Was for the temps, my Q6600 runs idel at 27oC so its all good :D

I would start it up and see what kind of temps you are getting.

Ok just booted it up.I have a E6300 and i have overclocked to 2.44ghz (7x349)

The temps in the bios read 33c(when not OC = 27c)

Speedfan temps reads core 0 20c and core 1 20c

Everest says my cpu temp is 27c

Tho core temp says core 0 35c and core 1 36c!

My motherboard temp is 40c(i have no case fan on at the moment, btw my case is the antec 4480
the 380 earthwatts psu seems a little noisey, can you recommend a quieter one
)

And the fan on the ninja is 800rpm.And i applied the paste like it says on the Arctic Silver website

All temps are idle

Oh and about overclocking. The only stufff i changed was the cpu clock from 266 to 349 if i go any higher than 349 the pc won't boot
First time i have overclocked so i don't know what other stuff to change. The mobo doesn't allow to change a lot

cheers

Just thought i would update
After messing around for a day or 2.I am certain the GA-G31MX-S2 does not work with the ninja revb
No matter how you try to seat the heatsink it never really fully clicks into place. This must account for the high temps i was getting after running Prime95
They were reaching 70c,no way should a ninja reach 70c

So for anyone thinking of getting this MB don't buy a ninja revb

"They were reaching 70c,no way should a ninja reach 70c"

i have a ninja rev b and my quad core reads 72 on two of the cores and 63 on the other two with prime95 (four instances) running. i have lapped the cpu and the heatsink.

I have since worked out that the bad temps are because of the hot air being pulled from the back of the gfx card. my ninja fan only fits one way on my X38-DQ6.
