Hi, whats the thoughts on this motherboard?

Whats the Gigabyte SATA2 like

&

Whats The Difference In The P35 DS3R Compared To DS3 Except For The 2 More Sata Ports.

Cheers
Jason

I would expect it to be a pretty decent board, considering its predecessor (the P965 DS3) was one of, if not the most, popular P965 boards.

The DS3R has the ICH9R chipset, which pretty much only gives Intel RAID over the DS3's Gigabyte RAID. And the difference between them is tiny, other than the Intel RAID allowing more than 2 hard drives to be connected in RAID. I also think that the DS3R had better power regulation.

Personally I've always been surprised that OcUK don't stock the DS3. I think they're worried that it might eat into the sales of the higher priced P35 boards.

The Gigabyte SATA2 works fine for me, I have had no issues with it, I am running HDDs in IDE mode, I think it is better than the Marvell cont. on the Asus mobos, although it does have fewer SATA ports. :)

well i went ahead and bought the DS3R as i have no patience on waiting on the results of my AB9 Pro RMA. so should get that by the end of the week :D then all im left with is upgrading my 7800GTX to maybe a 8800GT which is slightly better and equally priced to the 2900's
