hey all!
new to the forums.

lots of interesting stuff here!

i wanted to ask..

would the new gainward 7800gs+ work with the shuttle sn95g5? just wondering if the psu can supply enough power? i got the original 240W version.

i got a xfx 7800gs extreme running at the mo with no problems.

i know the case will take some modding to get the card in but it'll be worth it!

can anyone help?
cheers!

hope; the quintessential human delusion.

on the physical side, i was planning to mod the hell outta my case so that it will fit in.

on the power side, ive got a xfx 7800gs extreme edition in at the mo and it works with no problems and since the gainward is a 7900gt does that boost my chances of it working?

my other plan failing the above, is to get the shuttle 300w supply for it.

failing all that, my plan was just to buy an external psu and use that with my shuttle!

could any of that work?

It should work fine even though Shuttle PSUs are slightly different to normal ATXs.

Even though they have a lower wattage rating, 240W for example, this PSU is more like a 350/400W ATX anyroad. They have plently of ability to power a 7900GT.. urrh sorry, 7800GS. :D

I have an aging SN45G, which I've managed to OC to 2.5GHz actual clock speed (3500+ PR rating). Even with that OC it'll still be a bottle neck for the 7900GT.

Tempted to pick up a SN95G5 if one is cheap enough and ATi haven't released a AGP X1900 by then.

On your external PSU... this would be able to power y'rig perfectly fine.
But so would your 240W. Just make sure that y'XPC is always tidy inside, free from dust and maintained on a regular basis.
