Hm....Gibbo, it looks like you've changed your mind about Gainward :D

Yes definetely, they under new management now from a much more sucessful company and the people at Gainward are also now much more focussed and I think that this could be 3rd time lucky. With a new company backing them, new management and an entire new product range things are looking good. Plus all RMA/Returns are now to our demands so we can look after our customers ourselves to very high standards. :)

That really is great. Gainward's always been making an effort for going beyond "the standart". Love the 1.6ns memory :D

EDIT: 1.4ns oh-oooh :p

So am I right in thinking people will have to RMA boards straight to Gainward?

Both OcUK and Gainward will accept RMA's and both of us will look after the customers very well. :)

anyone got any high res benchies for this card. Wanna know how well it fares against the x1800xt and the x1900xt

Hi there

Is 8500 3D Mark 2005 points good for a 7800 GT?
My X1800XT gets 9400 at stock, but thats with a 2.7ghz opty. For a proper comparison you will have to disclose the CPU you used :)

Just an FX-57, all stock I presume with some overclocking on both CPU and VGA it would see 9000+ :)

Sounds like a great card to me :D

Would this 7800 GT 512MB beat a 7800 GTX 256MB then ?

Gibbo, could you do a quick test my friend. Please.

Use the FX57 based rig. FX57 stock. Same mem speed timings etc, just changing the GPU. Run a Gainward 7800 GT 512MB at stock and could you compare it against a 7800 GTX 256MB, just a normal GTX 256MB at stock too? Use 3D Mark 05 or 06 as a test.

Much appreciated if you could do the quick little compare. Thanks :)

It depends which GTX you put it up against.

This 7800 GT has 450MHz core clock and 1300MHz memory. Compared to a GTX's normal 430MHz core clock and 1200MHz memory, plus this 7800 GT has extra 256MB, total of 512MB. The only upper hand the 7800 GTX has is another 4 pixel pipelines (24 vs 20).

Head to head they are very similar all depends on the games and benchmarks you run. As ultra high resolution will take advantage of the extra memory, wheras some games need better fill rates which the GTX has with the more pipelines and some games preferre clock speeds which the GT has to its advantage.

On 3D Mark 2005 a GTX scores approx 8300-8600 I believe, so this 7800 GT is performing roughly the same, a tad slower in some games and a tad quicker in others. But £229 +VAT for a 512MB card is a superb price!! :D

Yea, with the GT having the higher clocks I wondered if that would bring it upto GTX level as the GTX has 4 extra pipes.

So you say it would be on par with a 256MB GTX then? For £270 its a great card. 512MB too. Now only to get the money to buy one.

Props to Gibbo and the rest of the OcUK team for yet again bringing the best hardware available to us.

Thanks Guys. Keep up the good work
