970 EX OC Black Edition: We are looking to sell 200-300pc as quickly as possible, once achieved pricing will go back upto £289.99 region. We shall also be moving our focus onto our own exclusive design 970 EX OC CWR Infinity Edition, which will be around £300 and features coil whine reduction technology, all black nickel plated design and much higher clock speeds.

How are these for coil whine?

Exactly the same as any other card on the market, pretty damn good, coil whine on a decent PSU is pretty rare.

Only the OcUK 970 reference and upcoming Galax 970 Infinity Inspired by 8 Pack Edition feature our CWR technology.

I returned a card, and my refund is going through which will take 5 days apparently. But I wanted the GALAX GeForce GTX 970 EX OC "Black Edition"

Can the refund be stopped and this card ordered?

How does the Galax compare to the Msi in overclocking?

The Galax is better equipped to clock better, but in reality they are both similar as both great cards.

All three of those cards stand a good chance of 1500Mhz.

What are the power requirements as in 12V rail amps? My psu does 38A (2x19A).

That sounds very low as it is two separate rails of 19A each, could be a struggle and if it does run but whines the PSU could be the culprit for sure.

Actually I just had a look at it in my case and the PSU is specced differently to how it's described online. It's actually triple rail (16A + 25A + 17A). Does that make a difference?

Sounds a dodgy one, you can only try it and find out.

Am I missing something with these non-reference designs, because you managed to get 1500mhz out of the OCUK 970 reference card you tried. Is there something else these cards offer other than the higher 'out-the-box' speeds?

A better chance of getting to 1600Mhz really to be honest.

You have to remember as well the OcUK reference 970 is a 980 PCB, so facts are its better than most of that custom stuff anyway. We just do not market the OcUK 970 Reference as an overclocking product as that was not our intentions.

So taking that in to account and the fact I would like to go SLI in the near future, the reference is definitely the way to go then?

For SLI I always recommend reference, better cooling particular if your case is not huge with great airflow.
