Well I wouldn't complain if you edited some of your many spelling or grammatical errors :D But your edits alter the whole meaning of the post or add entire new sentences or paragraphs.

Maybe you should slow down then and not jump on his back the minute he posts? :) He is using the edit feature, don't like it? tough go complain to someone to remove the edit feature.

lol I wondered when his boyfriend would turn up ;)

Incidentally the reason I found it amusing this time was because he initially seized on the figures as proof that the PS2 was inferior to the Xbox, but then had to sheepishly edit before anyone noticed that he was talking rubbish when he realised that he had misinterpreted the figures :)

No actually i disagree, i think you complain all the time.

So i read over my post and decided to re word it, also noticed it was 1000s of millions not millions. I wasnt quoting you or changing things to strenghen an argument, was i ?

Im actually asking what the purpose of the Chart is as all it shows is that in 2004 it was a bumper year for games sales as a general business. Some however may of looked at it as sales for each system at their best or used the sales to iin some way make it look like one system was better than another one.

I covered my thoughts on it, wheres yours?

I also like how some people fail to realize that the Xbox was modded and had its games library pirated far more (ratio-wise). I mean, there are entire thriving communities on modding the xbox.

No, you initially thought (as I did) that Xbox games had outsold the PS2 games. You later said (but edited - although I quoted the un-edited post) that the figures were units sold, rather than revenue based.

How do you know the Xbox had its game library pirated more? Nearly every game on both consoles was pirated. I remember when the first mod chip arrived for the PS2, it meant a massive sell out of them in the UK and took Sony months to re-stock.

Im not failing to realize that, but i dont think it reached the same levels of circulation. It also took a bit longer than expected before it became more widespread and it was usually costlier with people upgrading harddrives also.

PS2 always had easier or more options to offer for pirates with no worries like Live membership being banned and because of the general price of the system and popularity the amount of people at one time doing mods meant it was cheaper and as such its likely more were aware of it too.

Sony had what 9 or more revisions of the PS2 trying to defend against the piracy? It also had games that were much easier duplicated. Look how they had it made law that modding for the system and seling it as a service was enforced as illegal within the UK.

Microsoft never went to such drastic measures probably bcause they thought the problem wasnt as big for them...

Piracy imo effected the PS2 more than the Xbox which in turn means that it hurt the sales of software more as piracy increased in popularity during 2005/2006 and to this day for PS2.

How many markets do you know of up and down the counrty that didnt have PS2 games in bucket loads?

Nice article, but it fails to mention how rich Nintendo are, and how much money they've been making for the last 10 years despite not being the #1 dog in the industry any more.

Look the post was editied and it was edited prior to me seeing you making a big issue out of it. Ive also made it clear i think Xbox may of sold more games to systems as a ratio than the PS2 mainly because of the piracy factor effected so many system buyers buying for the illegal games. 2004 is only one year not each systems life cycle and if xbox had 25% of the PS2 sales in 2004 then that was pretty damn good considering the numbers of systems sold for each system.

The post stands as it was immediately edited and the post makes a point which DAMN well should be more of the discussion than your moaning.

Get on topic please....

Aren't all your posts in this thread basically trying to say that the Xbox is better than the PS2? Then again I may have misunderstood because your abysmal English makes your posts hard to decipher :)

@ dirtydog

No its the opposite im trying to show that the chart should not be used to show ANY system as the best or with the best games.

Oh hold on remember this i thought this was clear?

The chart is also flawed because the PS2 had a huge range of Platinium Cheaper Games so in no way can the sales fully represent that one system:

1) Is better than the other in terms of quality games
2) Has a larger number of quality games on each individual system.
3) Is any indication of showing percentages of games to systems sold

Ive also made my thoughts clear that PS2 without the piracy issue woud have sold a damn sight more games too. Its by far the most pirated system on the planet. This would have course make its ratio of systems sold - games sales far weaker than say Xbox not because essientially Xbox games are any better but because imo didnt suffer as much with piracy....

Try reading and understanding the posts, its bound to make sense to others

I own an Xbox and I have owned a PS2 :) I agree that the Xbox is technically superior to the PS2 although there is no question which is the greater commercial success both in terms of sales volume and revenue - both of consoles and of games.

Just out of interest - I cant find any details but maybe you can, considering the sales of consoles being 5:1 as you mentioned in respect to PS2 to Xbox, I wonder whether the amount of piracy is anything like the same ratio?

Its not really surprising to me though that simply because of the phenomenal success of the PS2 it will have become the most pirated by some way (just out if interest I wonder if LOTR or Star Wars etc are the most copied vhs's /dvd's etc by some margin)

I was also staggered to read that Sony had redesigned the PS2 nine times - I remember a number of revisions but had no idea it had reached 9
