Gaming PC Suggestions

Hi all, I am currently using an Asus X552C laptop and would like to get a desktop capeable of running more than League of Legends and some Steam games. Specifically would like to get back into WoW after not playing it for 9 odd years due to reasons. Maybe light video editing or streaming in a few years time.

Prefer non AMD cards. I have a mouse and keyboard already, budget would be £1200 max. Nothing fancy like water cooling or flashy lights, just simple.

So I figure I would need Windows, Antivirus, word and excel, a monitor and a computer. Is there anything I am overlooking? I have not built a PC before, only changed RAM in an old PC and changed a Graphics card. A friend said get OCuk to build it for the warranty and they can deliver on saturdays. Is this true? A final note, I would probably want to pay on finance.

Thank you in advance for the suggestions, Dave

@NewDave

For WoW new expansion , things are going to get more prettier

What has changed for recommended requirements:
  • Operating System: Still unknown
  • Intel Processor: Intel Core i7-4770 up from Intel Core i5-3330
  • AMD Processor: FX-8310 up from FX-6300
  • NVIDIA Video: GeForce GTX 960 up from GeForce GTX 750 Ti
  • AMD Video: Radeon R9 280 up from Radeon R7 260X
  • Memory: 8 GB up from 4 GB

Built with mind for video editing and streaming , hence the 8 core 12 thread Ryzen core . Gtx 1060 is above what you need but perfect card for ultra 1080p 60hz gaming.
Build might be £100-150 for OCUK to build for you - have done in past for lists we've given to members in the past

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,102.51 (includes shipping: £12.60)

Keeping costs low and covering just above recommended specs. Ryzen 5 1600 destroys the FX 8350 recommend !!

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £768.51 (includes shipping: £12.60)

Again £100-150 formocuk to build with warranty

Lastly if you don't want any AMD at all !
Also contains 480GB SSD Vs 240GB

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,039.42 (includes shipping: £12.60)

And then i7 version but has ram dropped from 16GB to 8GB . 6 threads Vs 12 and 3.8ghz on all six cores Vs 4.3ghz of the i7

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,057.42 (includes shipping: £12.60)
Hopefully good spread and all build able by ocuk with warranty at £1200 mark

Intel has edge in gaming Vs AMD being better for streaming and video editing due to core count. i7 stands the best if you really don't want anything AMD but has high Thread count and speed

Hopefully others can quote pre-build models
