Hi,
You've probably heard similar moans and requests for advice before
When I play certain games - COD4, CSS, DOD Source, FT2 etc. i get intermittent gameplay i.e.one day i get no crashes and on others i get 2 or 3 sound loop crashes which requires a hard reboot. I mean I can play LOTR Online at 1920 x 1200 with everyting switched on and it never crashes.
Now I've tried removing all the main components and re seating them. I've also removed, replaced or updated all the drivers. I've ran stress tests on the memory, CPU, Gfx card and I've had no failures. I've also dropped the sound hardware acceleration in DXDIAG - after a re-install!
The only strange that does happen is my Enermax Galaxy beeps for a couple of seconds every so often but I've heard that is a common problem with these supplies and doesn't generally mean its a dud.
Does anyone have any suggestions as this is my first major PC gaming problem and I've been building my own PCs for years - probably blind luck.
Spec - running at stock speeds
Windows XP SP2
Intel Core2Duo 6600
Abit IN9 32X-MAX
EVGA 8800GTX ACS3 KO
2GB Corsair Dominator PC6400 Ram
850W Enermax Galaxy
Creative X-Fi Sound - but have also tried onboard.
Thanks for listening errr well taking the time to read this.
