Hi

I recently finally got rid of my 123d and switched to a '17 F31 335D.

It's got all the key stuff I wanted but there's a couple of upgrades/retrofits I want to do, notably considering M3 front seats (currently red heated manual seats) and folding mirrors that requires some wiring/coding etc.

After that I guess there's a better than average chance I might want to mess with it in other ways but mechanically I have my guy, this is just upgrades/tweaks.

Any suggestions around the top of the M3 sort of area (would travel a bit for decent service).

Whilst we're at it, I was going to do a few bits of coding myself, I've bought an OBD adapter and was going to get bimmercode.. for reasons unclear I'm hesitating over spending the money on the assumption there may be cheaper/free options..

Any thoughts on this? Should I just spend the £40?

Bimmer code is the best for coding options, but you’ll also need Bimmerlink for reading errors/changing battery

It’s tempting to go for Carly, as you pay per change, but I would really encourage you to support the more consumer friendly business model of Bimmercode/link. Initial outlay is more, but you’ll own it for life and always get new features.

That is roughly the assumption I came to. I had a go with ispa on my 123 and found it totally unfathomable, I felt pretty much guaranteed to brick my car lol.

And whilst I'd have all my coding and diagnostics done in almost no time so would only ever need 1 year of Carly it feels predatory to make it a subscription, it's one of my most hated things that do much has become an endless payment now.

Bavarian Coding near Southampton, does various retrofits with genuine bmw kit

He came all the way to West Wales on a Saturday afternoon to recode my "17 F31 - fantastic guy and didn't leave till gone 9pm. I'd had a poor coding job done over the internet when fitting the LCD cluster which screwed up the rest of the car.

I've got a set of unused Eibach roll bars for F31 xDrive which I need to get rid of btw. ;)

Ha ha thanks for the heads up, I'd say roll bars are well down the list :)

In fact excessive roll seems to be non existent.. maybe I don't drive hard enough. It is already on eibach suspension though.
