I'm thinking of buying some decking lights to go around the car port that I have in the back garden. kinda like this:

I don't want to run a cable out that far back so I'm think of using a car battery, and a solar panel as my power source. Obviously I'll conceal the battery and place the solar panel where it will be hidden but still useful... I also want to rig them up to a motion sensor so there only used when backing the car onto the drive/car port..kind of like a wee runway. The lights would be 12v so the car battery presumably would be ideal. The solar panel charger should adequately keep the battery charged, and as there on a timer they will only be on for around 5 to 10 minutes max...

I'm not that electrically minded, can anyone see a problem or have an easier way...without me running a long cable!!

BTW the car is not parked on wooden decking, Its a concrete drive, I will be putting a kind of frame of decking around the port where the lights will be fitted and the cabling concealed.

Can't you just buy some good quality solar powered lights? i bought some very basic ones from a garden centre for my Grandparents last year and they seem to work a treat.

Not for decking, they are around 30 quid for 2 and huge, sticking proud about 2cm's and give off next to no light. I have just installed loads of LED decking lights and lamps in the garden plus a water feature that is lit all controlled by a remote. Can you defo not wire them? the cable is really thin and you can then control it via an infra red socket fro quite cheap, would be a lot cheaper and less hassle, the cable can just be hidden.
