I'm staying at the Hilton at the airport (few minutes covered walk to the terminal) when I fly from Gatwick in April, cost about the same as any other hotel without going super cheap.
stayed there, the Sofitel in the North Terminal is better, priced about the same but you do have to use the monorail to get to south terminal
