Just told my boss I'm leaving work. I only really wanted to work another 2 or 3 weeks but as my contract says I should give a month notice, I did. So my last day of work will be 9th May 2006. However, I have unused annual leave so technically I could leave a few days earlier (does anyone know if this is the norm? or is it better just to get paid for the unused holidays).

Anyway, here's my plan (which sounds pretty good to me!).
Fly to Tokyo at the end of May and loiter there for a week. Then I'm going to Australia with my working Visa for a year. And, on the way back I'm going to stop in Bali for a week.

The annual leave you can only take if you've already accrued it. Don't forget that your leave is allocated on an agreement of you being there for a year. If you're only there a third of a year you don't get all your entitlement.

In my experience it's normal to take the remainder of your annual leave, but just do whatever suits you.

PS: I am jealous of you.

Sounds like a plan!!! :D

Do you need the extra cash from those few extra days, or do you want to leave work a bit earlier? I'd leave earlier if it was me ;)
well i need all the cash i can get but at the same time I'd like to leave TODAY! Ahh I'll prob just stick out the month. It's actually a great feeling, knowing that I'm leaving work anyway. Light at the end of the tunnel and all that!
