Gave up waiting - Asus 7950 DCUII ordered :)

The Sapphire is a fair bit smaller. Not sure if it's a reference board or not - the Asus is, jsut with their cooler on. But the speeds are the same - if you get the Asus DCU II top version.

Guess it comes down to whether you have the space and cost.

I deof go for one that takes less space, my case is the Coolermaster Storm Sniper but I might want to crossfire these babies in a years time... my finger is hovering over the buy button :/

Tried a few rounds of BF3 with the settings you wanted with the card clocked at 1050. For the most part it was usually sitting in the 70's, but there were occasional drops into 50's, but only momentarily.

Tried up to 1.232V for 1200MHz, but it was still artifacting. Not sure I want to go higher than that....

As I am going to crossfire, I think I am just going to go for a stock volt OC until I find the cards are getting too slow at something - which will hopefully be a couple of years :)

cant wait mine will be here tomorrow !!!! stupid patricks days gave me a day off work , but also delayed my post.

anway , question what are people using to OC this card, few posters on page 1 where talking about afterburner , i take it thats better then the asus gpu tweak software ?

I like using afterburner but it only allows OCing up to 1100 core for me. Sticking with it for now as not going to be overvolting yet, so no need right now for more than 1100
.
Asus GPU Tweak tool isn't bad, but also only allows OCing up to 1100

The latest Sapphire Trixx will allow OC up to 1300

Are you sure you have enough room on your motherboard for two of these monsters? Im soooo tempted to get one but I'm worried I wont have room for crossfire in the future. I have an Asus P7P55D Pro and by comparing with your P8Z68 I can see we both have the same distance between out PCI-E slots.

From a site eyetrip knows about :)

'I have an Asus P7P55D Pro currently have two Sapphire 5850 Toxics in crossfire. There's about a 1.5inch gap between the two cards' - elrasho

Your Toxics are 2 slot width cards which is why you've got a good gap (1 slot width) between them for the upper card to pull air in. These Asus DCU-II cards are 3 slot width cards...

...and, like I mentioned previously, there will be almost no space between the two cards but it will fit'

So they'll fit but the top card has a risk of overheating as it';; be smuthered by the bottom card..... hmmm.... is it worth saving £60 to get this card that I might have issues with when crossfiring, or spend £370 and get the Sapphire OC 7950 which has the same clock speeds but only covers two slots.... what do you think I should do?

Well, I will be able to give you an idea on temps tonight after installing card (if it fits)

The only reason I considered it was because the cards are running quite cool.

Will likely have a side 140mm fan blowing over them too. Will see how goes without it first

As long as things don't get too noisy, I will be happy.

Oh so you got a second one already!? awesome. Looking forward to see how you get on. Some may say I'd be silly to buy a card now when the new Nvidias are around the corner, but I can't see them being any cheaper than this Asus 7950 and as long as I can play BF3 at those settings at 60fps I'll be happy.

Pic's of the 2 in your case would be nice! Thanks
