Hi,

My girlfriends brother is currently preparing for his GCSEs this summer. This afternoon he asked me for help and I suggested that the best method I found when revising for my GCSEs was to get all of the past papers and model solutions from the exam board website and get familiar with the paper and get a feeling of the sort of answers that are expected.

He did not know the exam board he was with so I suggested if he asked his teacher I'd have a look. His teacher told him the course but also suggested it is relatively new and he might not find much.

Apparently his science is "Additional Science" studied with AQA.

Surely even if this is new there would be specimen papers available?

So far I have only found one for the physics section (P2) here but this is only a physics website... Without solutions... And still not found any biology (B2) or chemistry (C2).

If anybody could suggest where I may get hold of some past papers or specimen papers I'd be very grateful.

Cheers.

go on the aqa website

i'll get you a link now.

I have tried looking there but no matter how far I look I cannot find specimen papers or past papers for this exam/syllabus... I bet it's right under my nose!!

Having read around a little it seems that Jan08 was the first time these exams have been set... So if at all there will only be 1 past paper and solution set for each module... And apparently there was 1 specimen for each.

Google keeps linking to AQA teachers forums or something, where they further refer to e-AQA but from what I can gather this is simply for teachers to log on to...

Let's hope your searching skills are better than mine!! :)

Cheers!

AQA havn't released any past papers from this january to anyone other than schools, they don't release them for a while after they're set to the general public, as schools often set them as mock exams. so he will have to go to his teacher/ his head of exams at his school to get hold of a copy of the script.

Yeah, it seems they haven't put past papers up. If it's a new course then that's obviously understandable.

Usually you would go to http://www.aqa.org.uk/qual/gcse/newscience/adscience.php then click "Assessment". That's how I got hold of past Electronic papers.

Good luck with his revision, he will need it without past papers. They always seem to ask a particular style of question in science-based papers which can make exam preparation much easier.

Thanks for all of the replies.

His teacher has given him a small booklet of "exam style questions" however they seem incredibly difficult (I certainly don't remember my GCSEs being so hard, and they were only a few years a go - Currently revising for my second year University exams!). BBC Bitesize have a section for his course and the questions on there are much easier, and managed to give him a great deal more confidence, but they are multiple choice... It's always difficult to know where you stand without having seen a "real question".

I'll have a word with him tonight and pass on the suggestion that he should see his exams officer who may be able to access the papers from e-AQA... Whether they'll help though, is another matter!

Thanks again :).
