Coming to Vista!

Oh Gosh I hope so ! Back in 2005, there was some crosstalk that suggested that Gears of War could also launch on PC in addition to Xbox 360. In an interview with Eurogamer, J Allard suggested that Gears was coming to both platforms.

Mark Rein, Vice President of Epic Games, explained at that moment that Gears of War was being developed as an Xbox 360 exclusive but he left the door open to the possibility of porting the game to Windows.

"Could we, in the future, adapt Gears for Windows just as Microsoft did with Halo?" Rein asked in rhetorical tone. "Sure we could and, as you can see from J Allard's comments, Microsoft is clearly cool with that idea. But we're a long way off from thinking about that."

Well, it seems that as development on Gears of War is completed, Epic Games is not that far away from making a Windows version of the game.

Today, ConsoleWars.de reports that a Swiss release scheduled list from Microsoft shows Gears of War as a Windows Vista game coming in the fourth quarter of 2007, following the steps of Halo 2, which is being released exclusively for Windows Vista this winter.

If this is true, we don’t expect Microsoft to confirm such release until long after the Xbox 360 version has shipped and gamers have gotten tired of chainsawing other players… although we are not sure if players will ever get tired of that.

I dont see why not as most pc gamers are fanboys and would never buy a Xbox 360

FFS I hate the use of that word "fanboy"

We are not fanboys, we are "Gamers" you can not play FPS on a console like you can on a PC with a keyboard and mouse. No matter what you say, it will not convince us because we have been using PC's for years. Its not fanboyism, its preference.

Halo 2 on pc looks poor. Gameplay will be much, much more satisfying, using the sniper and battle rifles effectively for example. The game looks graphically pretty dire from screenies though :(

Fanboy is a fair term I think - people can get ridiculously loyal to certain brands and such. -|ScottFree|- makes a fair point which is not fanboyism, controllers are rubbish compared to a mouse/keyboard.

Yeah, but GOW isn't a fps.

Cliffy B "hinted" at the GoW 360 launch on 1up.com that we may see other versions of the game....When asked if he meant a Special Edition on 360 or actual launch on another system.....He wouldn't say :)

I bought a 360 today. I have owned and up graded PC's for years. I am firmly a PC gamer, but I am not so narrow minded as to not consider other machines. I like to experience games - and consider myself a game fan, Games are after all the reason I own a PC and recently spent £250 on a new graphics card and £165 on new RAM. If however a particular title I would like to play comes out on another platform (in this case Gears of War and Dead Rising) I will look into the possibility of buying one.

That said, the PC rocks and will never be beaten for offering the best Gameplay experience imo anyway.

Plus on the 360 I will be able to play Ninja Gaiden - I have wanted to play that game for soooo long.

I hope they add to the pc version 8hrs is short for a game buy only 8 player mp thats a joke.

Because clearly having more players must make the game better?
GOW is very much a tactical game rather than a normal shooter in multiplayer and the 4v4 works quite well. Doing something like 16v16 would ruin most of the strategy imo and turn it into another generic shooter.

GOW doesn’t really play like a normal FPS game, the controls, movement and combat have clearly been built with the game pad in mind. Generally I have a really hard time with console FPS games because the controls do indeed suck compared to the PC but this is defiantly different. It will actually be quite interesting see what the do with the controls when they port it to the PC.
