Firstly, as Castiel rightly points out, the reason for Jewish circumcision is because of the covenant between G-d and the Jews. It is because. That's it. It has sweet fa to do with hygiene The same reasons as the Old Testament gives for not murdering, lying, stealing cheating etc. So if you believe in the 10 Commandments, you believe in circumcision. The fact that circumcised penises do not suffer from smegma or **** cheese as it is so delightfully referred to is an added bonus.

Secondly, despite the assertions that it is "ritualistic barbaric mutilation of a baby's knob", that is factually incorrect. It is a procedure carried out under sterile conditions and causes no permanent damage to the child. The intention is certainly not to cause any harm to the child.

Thirdly, merely to further my understanding of the meaning of irony, how many of you anti "knob cutters" have actually been circumcised (at birth for no medical reason in a ritual mutilation)? Just so I can gauge how your lives have been in a downward spiral cause you can't get an erection/have no feelings in your bell end/been laughed at by your sexual partners etc? I ask because no one that I know has any of these issues and seeing as this number is probably well over 500 individuals, I can probably speak from a position of strength. In fact, seeing as my penis has been so desensitised and I can still have some toe curling orgasms and my wife certainly does not complain about my performance, perhaps one could argue it improves performance and staying power. If my orgasms got more intense, perhaps on the same level as a uncut penis, I would possibly pass out. Unfortunately, I will never know owing to the barbarous nature of my parents!

Fourthly and anecdotally, the health reasons asked for include the reduction of HIV transmission by 51% to 60% ceteris paribus

Finally, I happen to agree with the views on female genital mutilation for the mere fact that it is a barbaric act that attempts to prevent women from straying by reducing any pleasure they attain from sexual intercourse. But that is, I believe a Black African or a Muslim Black African thing so best to ask them for their cultural rational rather than tarring Jews with the same brush (if you'll excuse the pun).

I dont know the pros and cons of circumcision but surely it should be upto the person who is getting circumcised to decide if they want it done or not.
Not every kid who is circumcised is going to grow up and become religous yet they have had an irreversible procedure done to them simply because their parents are religous.

How can anybody be in their right mind and say the person who is getting circumcised shouldn't have a choice ?

Surely we should also ban vegetarian parents from denying their children meat?

Parents have an entitlement to raise their children as they see fit.

A child can't make decisions for themselves. Should we allow them to choose which schools they go to?

They are all decisions that parents take on behalf of their children. They all have a permanent impact on these children.

A childs education or nutrition will in fact have a far more profound impact on them than whether they have an extra inch of flesh on their foreskin.

The "anti circumcisers" should really be dealing with the vegetarians and the choosers of poor schools first.

If I interview 20 people for a job I can tell those who went to a good school. I don't have a clue who is circumcised.

A child's education is as permanent as makes no difference. Do you expect a child to reach 18 and decide that his parents sent him/her to the wrong school and therefor should start from scratch?

As for nutrition this is most certainly permanent. A child spends its formative years developing physically. How it develops during that time can't be changed when he/she hits 18. Poor nutrition is a huge thing for developing children.

Don't come out with phrases like "and well you know it" unless you really do.

The only ridiculous assertion on this thread is the whole "anti circumcision" nonsense being trotted out by people who really should be focusing on more important matters. Too many people are using it as yet another stick to beat people of faith with and make themselves look cleverer than they actually are.

You might accept the input of a child in which school to send them to. Only a complete retard would leave the decision up to them to make.
 
So an 18 year old can't go into further education or gain degrees after school? Of course they can, can't grow a part back though.

Also, vegetarian diets can be perfectly healthy and usually vegetarians are far better educated when it comes to nutrition. Not that I particularly support that either.
 
Even if you were to eat a vegetarian meal at home when you're a kid, it doesn't stop you eating meat later in life if you choose that isnt the lifestyle you want.

What on earth are you talking about? The only school that a child will have no say in the matter towards is primary school. You're going to tell me that primary school choice is something you can tell the difference between when someone is 18+? Haha.
