Get the iphone 4 now or wat for another model?

thanks for the replys still not decided if 2 wait or not :)

and captianbum i currently have a nokia express music think its a 5800
not impressed with it at all tbh

definitely get one. They will definitely announce and launch a new one in June, it's already on the accessory roadmaps (I work in the accessory industry which has gravitated largely around iphone launches now) even though there's no hint as to what it might look like everyone is pretty much agreed it'll be then just like the ipod/mac updates are always at the same time.

To be honest the 4 isn't much different to the 3GS and I doubt the 5 will be much differen to the 4, in fact a 4S wouldn't surprise me, it would be dangerous to change the form factor as that would be admitting there were issues with it (which there really aren't, I've never noticed anything and I'm a fussy git in a bad signal area!)

Just buy it, it's like pc components, if you wait for what's next you'll never buy anything and a 5800 really is a POS in comparison.

The Verizon one is CDMA while AT&T use GSM (as do we and nearly everywhere else), the antenna is slightly different but essentially the same external wrap around one.

The 4 was a bigger leap from the 3GS than that was from the 3G, so I wouldn't expect the 5 to be a huge leap but you just never know. Little things like the gyro in the 4 were unknowns until release, so it wouldn't surprise me if they cram something else nobody thought of in there.

I'd rather wat than wait for another model tbh :D

I got the iPhone 4 recently but only via my company, I originally had the 3GS and would definitely not have gone for the iPhone 4 if it was wonga out of my own pocket.
Ok so the screen is nicer and you have a higher res camera, but theres nothing wrong with the 3GS screen as it is and 3MP camera aint too shabby.
Speedwise theyre on par with each other. If you want to save yourself some cash, go for a 3GS :)
But if you got enough kablingy, then do what most recommend, wait for the next model, only 4-5 months to wait :)

hang on.... i have a 4 already (18 month contract)....

if a new one comes out in June / July with some fixes and i want to get this new phone even if i sold my old 4 can i then just put my old sim card into the new phone and away i go?

Yes, you could just walk into an Apple store, buy one and stick your sim in.

I am buying the iPhone 4 in Feb, can not see the iPhone 5 being a huge improvement really. Plus my contract ends June 2012 so will get the iPhone 6 for a much lower cost that time.

Might as well wait for the new iPhone to come out because it will be faster and will have improved display and also will perform better and if you go for the iPhone 4 you will have to buy a apple bumper case or a different case to sort out the anntena problem.

I would be inclined to wait for the next one which is due in June.

Having said that I would be interested to see how they are going to advance from the 4 as it is a massive improvement over the 3GS. It is possible they may do a minor upgrade like when they did 3G - 3GS

4 was a minor upgrade from the 3GS really, it's basically a better screen, facetime and better camera. Big whoop.

3 > 4 is a massive upgrade, however, purely because of the speed difference.

Get £150 cashback from vodafone on iPhone 4, expires on Sunday. After harping on about waiting until #5, I did this yesterday. Got confirmation of cashback tracked within 6 hours as well. Means I only paid £49 for a 16GB iPhone 4, which I'm pleased with. Now to put 3GS on 3bay.

I couldn't be bothered waiting for the IPhone 5 so I upgraded to the IPhone 4 yesterday which arrived today. I really don't see the IPhone 5 offering me anything out of this world that justifys waiting 6-months for it.

Like others have said I think the next iPhone (4S?) will just be a refresh of the 4, like the 3GS was to the 3G. I doubt the screen will be any better (can Retina be improved upon yet?!) and the 4 doesn't exactly need a speed boost with a faster CPU so it's surely just likely to be an antenna redesign and a few minor hardware additions?

I'd happily be proven wrong as my 3GS is due for replacement in the next few months and chances are I'll be waiting until the new iPhone is released.
